Thanks!I think I have a regulator spare if you want to try it. If you get some injectors you can try my map too. I'm just outside Nantwich these days if you need anything. I have a basic book of efi.

Do you mean manually changing values with a wide band and shoved up the tail pipe on a rolling road? Or booking a permanent wide and up to the ECU for a fuel learn with OBD Pro?From the few OBD tuned SC cars I saw here, the normal OBD fuel learning seems to overfuel a bit and you get high IDC's at higher rpms. A few fuel learn sessions with a wideband sensor in the tail normalized things back to a decent IDC value. (And AFR...)

Happy to check your fuel pressure if you suspect that may be an issue / fuel reg may have been dicked with. Im in Hawarden, not sure where in Cheshire you are.
I'm over near Holmes Chapel.
What would be the procedure for checking the regulator? Take it off and visually inspect it, or try to measure the rail pressure via the Schrader valve on the supply pipe? What pressure should the regulator maintain the rail at?
How will I know if its been messed about with?

I have a "mobile" wideband unit that mounts in the tail pipe and plugs into the cigarette lighter and wiring loom to do OBD WB logging, Cables taped on the body and away for some road tuning.

Has to be the worst job I've ever had to endure on the VX - changing the fuel filter. What a PITA. Not helped by all the extra stuff the S/C conversion brings pipes etc in the way, but managed to get it done. probably would have been easier to take the clam off to do it!
I cut open the old unit and it looked pretty clogged and it seemed to be quite restrictive when blowing into it compared to the new replacement.
Could this be the cause of all our problems? I can imagine that its a deliberately overlooked item in a service regime, because its so bloody awkward!

i think that should keep you busy for a while
1. injectors suggest blue vxr ones if you can find them
2. fix U bend and check fuel regulator
3. another fuel learn
4. another log (aiming for around 80-85% duty cycle only @ max rpm )
5. if you have already had a new pump have you changed fuel filter
Progress....
1. injectors suggest blue vxr ones if you can find them - Arrive tomorrow
2. fix U bend and check fuel regulator - U bend fixed, made a connector from my compression tester and some other bits, yet to try it out!
3. another fuel learn - TBA
4. another log (aiming for around 80-85% duty cycle only @ max rpm ) - TBA
5. if you have already had a new pump have you changed fuel filter - New spitfire pump fitted along with filter

Just pulled the pressure regulator out and the seals look buggered to me. Is there anything obvious in the picture to indicate it’s been messed with?
