I still have an open cone type, as I didn't want to restrict the airflow. What type would you recommend ?

An enclosed type is known to reduce the noise a bit. Dont know much about them as get by with an open one myself.

Have a look at fitting a BMC CDA, they come in quite a few sizes but I'd opt for the largest! That's what I plan to fit to reduce to SC noise on track, I was at 102 static at Cadwell but not sure on drive by as they don't measure it. I'm quite reluctant to visit the larger national tracks with a worry of being black flagged.

I'll have a look at that system but I'm still not convinced it's induction noise, as the car still feels very drowny

Induction can hit the measuring sweetspot sometimes easier then the exhaust.
