Hello folks, well my saga continues in my quest to buy a vx but i have to say that i am running out of interest very rapidly!!!! In short i put a deposit down on a vx form a car supermarket last week and when the rac check came back it was bad so i withdrew and got my deposit back. After that, i went to my local dealer last weekend and saw another vx and after my initial disappointment i wud not give in and therefore i got them to bring a car down from there other dealership down south. I duely put down another deposit subject to the car being in mint condition and network q'd. And they brought it down. It looked lovely but when i drove it grated in 4th gear everytime. They are not vx specialised but they are a vauxhall dealership so they said they wud have it inspected!!!!!! I was supposed to pick it up yesterday after they said the clutch probably just needed adjusting. Yesterday came :( They informed me that something has broken in the gearselector bit and will need to go to the specialist vx (cd bramalls middlesbrough) for them to have a look at. I ran them this morning and brammals cannot look at it till tuesday and then obviously they will need to work on it :( My insurance on my part ex (streetka) ran out yesterday so i have left it at the dealership and i am drivin around in a loan car!!!!! I am writing this wondering whether i should just pull out of this even tho the garage are tryin to put things right. I am writing this wonderin whether a, will i ever find a decent used vx? and b. whether i can now be bothered to continue my quest for vx dom????? In short pig sick!!!!! :( :( :(

Hi Jack, Don't give up fella... It sounds like the dealership will put things right!! :D If you think the rest of the cars perfect... then give it a few days to see how it turns out!? Generally the engines and gearboxes are sound as they are used in mainstream Vauxhall's. Mine's not perfect... usuall small faults like the lights misting up, silver center missing from the start button, cracked rear light cluster etc, but nothing thats really a 'show stopper'!! Honestly once you get the f*cker home you're worries will disapear as the gin from ear to ear starts to appear!? B) hey i'm a poet...and i didn't know it!! hahah Anyway spring is just round the corner... which means it's roof-off and cruise time!! You know it makes sense

Hang in there, it'll be worth it in the end :groupjump: .
Vaux dealers do seem to be very slow when it comes to repairs / getting parts etc, but saying that some are better than others.
Best of luck thumbsup

Stick with it fella - just make sure you keep on the back on the garage to make sure it gets sorted. These days / weeks will feel like hell - but you will forget about it as soon as get the car. Why not spend your time writing stroppy emaisl / letters to Vaux customer service and see if you can get some money back ?!?! :beat: Stick with it ! chinky chinky

If it goes tits up, you could always sell your old car privately, then buy one of the ones for sale on this page... Cheers, Paul.

I know exactally what you mean mate I have been looking for a decent vx now for a while, but have my current car to PX at the same time. All the decent ones seam to be private and I can`t be a*rsed with the hassle of trying to sell it privatly. But I am going to stick with it, I am determind to find a good one

what are you guys trying to part ex ? If you're willing to take part-ex money then maybe someone on site might be interested - at the part-ex (ie. trade price)... you never know... and then you'll save even more by buying privately from a member here.... Mick

I have always found unless you buy New or private, most Vxs or any other car for that mater that end up in garages are sometimes cars people cant shift privately, I came across quite a few dawgs in some dealers but then i did find a few minters too, Its a 50/50 chance you take when buy from a garage :( Good ones are out there to be found though, my local dealer just had a minter 03 N/A put in for a new Vx turbo this week (the one i wanted from them too  ) its done 18.000m and they want 15,000k for it thumbsup not bad! I searched for months and months and ended up buying mine of an enthusiast who,had never used the car in the rain, :) .. It gets bloody soaked now down here in Wales  I know what its like when you want something real bad, exspesh something like the VX cos they are so bloody stunning but hold on in there mate you'll find a good one ;) thumbsup Good Luck

well went to the dealer today to give the loan car back and get back my deposit and streetka!!!! He never tried to tempt me to have it repaired he just handed bak me keys and deposit. I was going to try and get more for my car and have the vx repaired but wen i got there i was just so sick, i just got bak in my car breathed a sigh of relief and drove off. Am very annoyed with the dealer who shipped it over as he described it over the phone as mint to me and my dealer....and it was on the network q site??? The leamington spa drive vauxhall dealer has wasted my and my dealers time.... Am fummin over it.. Dont think they shud mislead u like that as it is just stress and time and effort and money wasted!!!!! I am thinknin of an audi tt or civic type r now.. So sick of vx's and i havent even owned 1..... its a sad sad day.......... :(

Don't worry sporty keep looking, if it was easy you wouldn't appreciate it half as much when you find the right one!

Probably the best thing is not to be in too much of a rush to buy one, keep looking for the model you are 100% happy with and one which has no complications!

Being prepared to travel a little way is often crucial in finding a good VX, you have to find it... The VX isn't going to come to you!

Keep looking, and I'm sure you will find the perfect VX for you.
