Salopian......don't worry, the ride is no harder after the set up. I can only speak for the turbo. I always thought my VXT was set up O.K. (being a new car and all that) so thought I would possibly be wasting my money on the set up....how wrong I was . When I got in the car after the set up it felt different straight away. You still get all the feedback through the steering wheel but the car just feels more stable on the road and I am cornering at speed with way more confidence than before.Even travelling at high speeds in a straight line feels way safer than before the Geo set up. Thanks for the comments above Turbomark - looks like something else to add to my to-do list. thumbsup chinky chinky

What did they do to pi$$ you off so?

They didn't exactly p*ss me off (other than charge extortionate labour rates), and I'm not questioning their quality of workmanship. I just don't understand why people ar so happy to pay their high prices? I recently had my geo, suspension AND ride heights set at Horizon for less than the price of the SS geo - and the results are simply stunning! They also said that if I wasn't happy they'd change it for free thumbsup (BTW Mike at Horizon used to run Steve's Tuscan so I think he knows a thing or two...)

So do you agree that they have no justification for charging so much more?

£141 to let the tyre pressures down to give you a more comfortable ride sounds ok to me thumbsup

Ok lets put it this way, who is the closest to Oxford and what is the cost assuming they all know what they are doing?

Well
I run a business in my spare time :D
And to be honest we charge as much as we feel the market will pay ;)
Having said that we offer a much better service than our competitors and people do not mind paying good money for a quality service thumbsup
I wouldn't like to comment on anyone elses pricing structure but we do live in a market economy.

I had my car serviced at SS last week and the care they took and the quality of workmanship was spot on thumbsup I know if I had taken it to vauxhall it would have received the same care as all the other Corsa's and probably had a 100 mile test drive to make sure the oil was ok :D

Notice I wouldn't compare one specialist to another as I'm sure they all know their stuff and do an excelent job :D

Ps As I had my geo done there last year they re-set it up for the 16" fronts for free :)

PPs How's the Moose??

Sloppy!

Your point about market prices etc. is a valid one - and I say fair play to the chaps if they can get away with it thumbsup It just hacks me off when they keep getting 'blind' recommendations by people who probably don't know any better - I include myself in this category.

There is no magic in what they do (AFAIAA :P ) and any reputable company with the right equipment and experience of the VX/Elise should be able to do the same thing...

A valid recommendation is all very well - but surely you should be able to qualify it?

That would close most of the forum overnight :D

If somthing feels better you do not have to know the ins and outs (ask the wife)

And just look how much "oxygen of publicity" we are giving to them by keeping this thread at the top :D

On a slightly different tack
People are always coming up to me and telling me how they think easyJet should not do that programme and how it's full of people complaining about us!!

Now I have never seen the show let alone been on it B)
But I asked one of our "over paid" airy fairy publicity people why we bother??

The answer they gave was the company never spent a penny on TV advertising for over 4 years but became the second most famous UK airline after BA in that time

It seems any publicity is good publicity :)

experience of the VX/Elise

Surely that's not even a requirement

They are merely changing settings to a known formula which is readily available. Any decent 4 wheel alignment place could do the same job if you provided them with the figures thumbsup

I think what put me off SS was when people here were mentioning the post setup test drive and the "sideways around roundabouts proof of setup" comments thumbsdown I'm afraid any firm that feels the need to do that goes down in my estimation
