I've now done a few thousand miles on my CBR and really really enjoying riding again. thumbsup But I'm starting to ponder over getting something a little more sports focused, the only thing that is putting me off is comfort. I really want something that I can do a few hundred miles in a day, without the need of putting an Osteopath on direct debit. Anyone got any suggestions, probably going to borrow an R6 from my local dealer in a week or so and see how that goes. Love the CBR RR but I've heard it's agony for any length of time in the saddle? So what do you good peeps reckon? It's not easy getting dealers let you put hundreds of miles on their bikes.

It's the SC's fault, it's spoiled me. :P

I know I'm not the world's highest mileage rider these days before you start  But the CBR1000RR's not bad at all, much more comfortable than my old GSXRthou. A mate's just comeback from the TT on his new 05 600RR & is :- 1) Very impressed, with comfort, performance & handling. 2) Doesn't understand why anybody needs a thou these days (answer: I'm lazy & don't want to be changing gear constantly, besides I can't always keep up with him anyway poof ) An R6 is quite small but I've not met R1CHY he might have something else to offer on the R6.

I must admit the 1000RR doesn't look like it's to far off of the dimensions of my bike. thumbsup R1CHY isn't a little lad (I didn't say fat  ), so it will be interesting as to what he thinks. I had a sit on a GSXR 750 with standard setup, it felt very arse up, so like you say, probably not very comfy. Hmm 600RR, I'll definately have to try and get a decent go on one. thumbsup chinky chinky

Really easy to ride aswell,I've lost a little of the bottom end smoothness/pull by changing the exhaust system.
I don't need the extra 10bhp or so that I've gained at the top,I just wanted the noise B)
Just depends on your insurance I guess (£350 fully comp for this old b*gger :) )

Oh yes, insurance, I forgot about that hurdle.

I'm paying £200 TPFT on mine at the mo, I'm guessing the 1000RR would be well out of my ins. price range. :beat:

DAMN insurance. :(

I'd like a smug smilie with a halo now please.

24 year old at work passed his test today, he's got a couple of odd ideas :-
A/ He's under the impression that I'll let him have a go on MY bike :o
B/ His definition of a reasonable insurance quote

Could i perhaps borrow it for a few hundred miles
to see if it's the bike for me. :D :poke:

I think if/when i buy a new one, I'll trade my CBR in for it.

Selling a car privately is enough of a pain, I can't see a bike
being much easier.

More suggestions guys. thumbsup
