Cheers for the replys guys. thumbsup Went to see a few bikes on saturday, CBR 600 RR, ZX6R, R6. Didn't manage to get a test ride on any! I also popped over to the triumph centre and checked out the Daytona 650 and Speed Triple. Kip 'n' srin and Richiemouse, good points as to what I want out of a bike, really I use my bike for work and back (only when weather is decentish) and weekends to the coast and things. I don't nearly use my bike to it's full potential so thinking about it what difference am I really going to gain by getting an even more focused bike. So here comes the  bit, had another little look at the new Speed Triple Imnotworthy ,I'm going to take one out for a test ride mid week. With lots of low and midrange grunt, plus it's riding position, should definately be interesting. But I've got to say the more I think about riding it the more excited I'm getting. :jump: Gedi I'm riding a CBR 600 FY at the mo. (in my avatar) It's a great bike, does everything really. thumbsup I love the Triumphs styling and presence (plus it's british :tt: ), what do you reckon, poof or B) :9mm: ?

How about a nice, low mileage Daytona T955i? Suits you sir.

Lovely bike but it wont look that good covered in cak with flies hanging off the back of those clocks. Doesnt look comfy for a pillion either. Did you say you were thinking of getting a reliable bike?

 I will clean it you know.

As for pillions, a seat cowl should stop even the most hardcore from trying to get on the back. thumbsup

I thought Triumph had sorted most of the reliability issues over the last few years, saying that, I don't know if the 1050 which replaces the 955 engine is new or not?

Jim, how did you get on with the 955?

Edit: are you selling and not replacing then?

Very nice engine for making progress with very little effort but the riding position runs counter to the rest of the bike. I believe the later bikes have a somewhat more sensible riding position.

Consider a ZX12R. I got one 10 months ago and it's the nob. Handles pretty well for freight train, mucho comfy and fast enough to go back in time....which may or not be a good thing depending on the state of your license.

Well I don't think being protected is a bad thing! Or should I get one of those tassly leather jackets and a studded leather hat. :D poof TBH i only wear my one piece suit if I'm feeling a bit hooligan, jeans and jacket most of the time. But saying that, I suppose I will look a bit odd in super-duper leathers, oh well. Test ride on wednesday, so we'll see if it's for me or not. EDIT: Anyway, the Triumph is no slouch. :beat: :D

I'm also thinking of getting a bike, however, my problem is not in terms of choosing which one to get (I already know the bike I want - GSX-R600), but in being unable to to get any decent insurance quotes. Got my licence about 8 years ago, but haven't got any valid bike noclaims (swapped it on to my car). Have been searching on the net but best quote so far seems to be about 1,100 :o . Trouble is I just don't want to downgrade on the bike choice!
