6 Hours later and the car has had the Meguirars treatment. 1. Washed Car with AutoGlym 2. Used Meguirars Quick Clay 3. Finshed her off with a Meguiars Wax Started at 10am and finished at 4pm - christ no-one said i'd be that hard. But the results are deffo worth it. The Quick Clay really does bring it up like glass, really could tell it'd been done. Then decided that while it was all shiny i'd wax it. Result:

I had that once. Luckily it was cold and on the windscreen so it scraped off in the morning

So...is the tech wax any better at removing polishing scratches than any other?

Nope... and it doesn't remove scratches/swirls, it just masks them :(

To remove swirls/light scratches you need an orbital polisher and something like Meguairs speed glaze. Scratch X is ok for small areas but not much cop of you're doing a whole car.

next time I clean up the car ill prob do the windows with the clay as well, it does say you can use on glass. It wernt that hard work, but then there was 2 of us doing it. I think its def worth while spending half a day to get a perfect finish. ill prob try out some differant products when i get the cash (ordered a free brochure online lol)

Hmmm.....thanks everyone. So removal of swirls we're pretty much talking an abrasive solution aren't we? I don't think it's that bad - just that in sunlight you can notice in certain places the polishing marks. Perhaps coloured polish will do it. As I said before I'm a bit of an Autoglym fan. They've got this new stuff out called Ultra Deep Shine. Claims to remove the 'Hologram' effect and mask scratches. Anyone given it a try? Can't work out if it should be used as a replacement to or in addition to their usual Super Resin Polish!

Ultra Deep Shine.

I've used this, pretty good, slightly better than the Super Resin stuff (the one with the red square on the bottle iirc), but no miracle worker - still got som swirling, mostly notice it under petrol forecourt lights at night.

Best thing about the Ultra Deep Shine is that it sin't white so there isn't any chalky effect like some polishes thumbsup

Tried that quik clay stuff yesterday - good innit! I washed it, did the clay thing, then some Meguires polish, then Meguires carnuba wax. Took me frikkin' ages. I have to say though that the VX is now cleaner than it has ever been in it's life and the paintwork feels like glass to the touch. Looks absolutely gorgeous Imnotworthy Haven't driven it yet, scared it'll get dirty poof
