Oh sh*t that's one VX experience I don't want to share. Amazing you are relatively OK. Give your wife a big hug too - I'm sure she's feeling a bit shocked too. :grouphug:

:grouphug:

I phoned her from the top to say I was setting out. When I phoned her again with my new news, she couldn't stop sobbing despite my reassurances that I was OK.

Another pic from this fateful expedition:

The Lengths some people will go to get in the calendar :o Hope the recovery goes well and the police go easy on you. On the upside what a fantastic story to tell in years to come ‘I drove off a Swiss mountain in a VX ….’. Looking forward to seeing you back in here posting some pictures of a new VX thumbsup

Keith Stunned. Terrible news to read for so many reasons. I'm sorry you'll likely lose the car (I agree the Swiss labour costs will not work in your favour), your head and hand must be aching by now as time washes out the adrenaline, and besides the financial concerns, I can imagine the frustration of being a self-guided person who will be forced to put the practice on hold for some weeks. I hope you don't have too much trouble rescheduling everyone. I know that pass as well as you do, and there are very few places on it where I would think an off-road excursion could end well. I always get a light feeling in my stomach if I'm going even moderately quick on some of the more notorious passes, if I pause to objectively assess the exposure. Same feeling I get on some of my bigger alpine climbs; no matter what your skill level, the exposure is a serious factor to weigh. I can fully understand your wife's reaction. My girlfriend has had some "shaky moments" over the years due to my adventures on and around the mountains. Going belly-up on the rocks with a targa is a very chancy proposition. Fate threw you a bad hand with the dirty corner, but then compensated on the landing. I only know you from the forum and some helpful private messages, but I am very relieved to hear you came away (relatively) unharmed. Wishing you a "speedy" recovery, and perhaps a quiet winter to contemplate the next car... Living where we do, however, you just can't get around having something sporty, can you? Gute Besserung, Stephen

Blimey, glad you are (relatively) OK. that second picture is amazing. Hope you recover well, and your partner isn't too shaken up either. Must be something in the air, one of the guys in my team is currently recovering from falling off the outside edge of a moutntain corner, but he was on his bike. He like you will be ok (although he is now sans spleen...). Wishing you a speedy recovery thumbsup

Feck me :o Brings everything into perspective. Count yourself as one lucky so and so...someone was certainly smiling down on you. Feel strange just reading your message....brings back memories of a crash for me (though nowhere near as bad as yours)...you'll be reliving the sounds and smells for sometime to come. But....you can feel almost blessed...you've been given a 2nd chance thumbsup Great write up too...talk about committment to the forum...posting so soon after the accident Imnotworthy
