They primary thing is that they tend to run on 93 octane tops.

Bear in mind that the American and European methods of measuring octane differ - 93 octane fuel in the US is equivalent to 98 octane fuel in Europe.

So where is all the info on it coming from if it's not possible to buy one anywhere?

Theres a US motor show called SEMA which was on last week, thats where that image was from...

You can go to < gm parts direct > and type in 17800003 in the parts bit to see the price. You can't actually order from there yet, though.

Cheers, Paul.

One of the letters in EVO this month explains it: "the RON number follows UK fuel and [R+M]/2 following US. Remember these: Research Octane Number and Motor Octane Number. What distinguishes the two is the standards by which each are determined. This usually results in a RON number higher than the MON, an average of the two is used in the states. UK fuel is based purely on the RON rating. A 97 RON conincides with a 90 MON, and that averages to 93.5 octane. Because the octane ratings on pumps are a minimum rating, 93 is used to be safe. A 95 RON is comparable to a 91(R+M)/2..." You learn something new every day! thumbsup

Do you know that for a fact?

I got told that about the LSJ crate engine, but when i mailed them, they told me they would... You probably just have to pay more...

Nope, only hearsay! I think both Vocky and Dude has made this observation.

Easily solved if u have a reliable contact in the states, however.

+ customs charges + VAT

It supposedly comes with a remap, but it might well be un-suitable for the VX ECU. In that case, you'll need either courenay-sports' piggyback ECU + MAP or some custom set up... thumbsup

Have you ordered one?

Customs and VAT are dependant upon Customs actually catching it, might even be an option hopping over the pond and bringing it back yourself.

No, its a long story - basically, i ordered a second hand one (not this GM kit, but an SC and manifold off the 2.0SC ecotec) from the states for a pretty good price.

However, when it arrived it was fcuked - the guy who sold it to me just stuck it in a thin cardboard box with bits of paper inside it. 30kgs of metal vs cardboard box does not end well :beat: . Theres a huge dent in the manifold and chips on the SC.

The guy (actually a shop :9mm: ) now says that it was damaged in the post and so he doesn't want to give me a refund. I paid with VISA so i've complained to them - its currently in their hands. They have the power to give me a refund if they find against him. Heres hoping. thumbsup

The whole experience put me off trying to do any more with the project, so i'm going to sell the NA and get a VXT to avoid all these problems... :(

Cheers, Paul.

That kit says 200bhp, but the Ecotec tuning guide suggests it gives 250bhp, what's the difference?

The final specs are yet to be released... I guess that will become clear when some US guys install it and get it dynoed... Or it ought to be listed some place if its on sale!

Find out soon, i guess...
