great post! Just been watching the videos... do you heel'n'toe? It seems the downchanges should be faster 'cause the engine revs so fast, it doesn't seem like you're blipping the throtle. Just curious...

great post!

:D

I had only driven the car home from the dealer on the Thursday, fitted the cam mount at the weekend and driven to Hockenheim on the Monday evening before the course. This meant that apart from motorway miles, I had NO experience of the car – let alone driven in anger.

It was a case of learning by doing! Once I "let it off the leash", I was amazed how quickly the revs shot up when accelerating and, at first, I was constantly going onto the rev limiter as you can see in some of the clips. Particularly on the down changes, I was very preoccupied with the narrow gate, but was heel and toeing at least for 3rd and 2nd on the tighter corners.

The lap against the Aston was in the last session – by that time I'd got a bit more of a feel for the way the engine spools up the rev range and wasn't constantly bouncing off the rev limiter  :D

The Exige S/C is like a stickier, meatier VX in all other ways – just the nature of the engine and the narrow gate that I need more practice with – otherwise I feel really happy, nay ecstatic, hounding exotica around the track!

Couple of pics to show the car in action instead of just "hanging around"...
