They are perfectly OK for road use IN THE UK. In Germany all wheels need to be TUV approved etc etc. The are a magnesium alloy, so will not like being scratched and left bare. So they need looking after. They are stronger than the VXR alloys, but these wheels are not for those who usauall park by ear (ie waiting for the noise of the wheel graunching along the kerb) If I was using them on a road car I would keep my standard ones for the winter, and get the Speedline wheels with the A048's fitted and use the Speedlines for summer and track days. Alternatively, if you are planning to race a vx, then these are the only wheels to have!

So what is the procedure if you do scrape/scratch them ? is their some kind of varnish to apply ? (not talking about big hits obviously, which I guess would warrant a replacement ?)

And any clarification on them catching fire would be good! In what scenario might this happen and will it destroy them? Also could we have the normal speedline centre caps from the original VXR speedlines?

Well if I get these and lose 20Kg's from dieting that will be enough to be able to go really fast

From my memories of setting fire to magnesium at school, if they do catch fire, you'll have the brightest VX ever seen B)

id probably have a set by now if they werent so expencive, its putting me off the idea, i went to my local wheel specialist, a&s wheels in chigwell and they can find alloys for around 600 a set to vx fitment some of which are 16 fronts, now i guess around 900 quid with tyres for the lot is pretty damn good, ok there not going to be superlight but looks is what i more concerned about.. if only they werent 2 grand! dam it ive frustrated myself..
