Hi, I've just been down to Vauxhall for my tie-rod, and I notice that the new Astra has got a 16" x 6.5J five-stud wheel that's a pretty good style-match to the VX220 turbo wheels. I can't say what the offet is and whether it will fit over the calipers, but it's worth someone looking into it. They are part number G0013116659 N/STK WHEEL 6 1/2 J at £92 each plus VAT. Steve

Now wouldn't it be fcuking ironic if Vauxhall bring out a cheap 16/17 option now we've all bought Team Dynamics/Oz/Speedlines etc!! :beat:

Astra has two types of wheel that look similar to VXT - one of them comes as standard on the SXi. Offset is 37mm so 10mm spacer and longer bolts and bobs your uncle (original offset is 26mm). What tyres to put on though if keeping OEM rears? Do bridgestone do 195/50/16 re040s? Or need new tyres all round...

standard astra tyres give the same rolling radius as standard 17inch vxt wheel, so could be tried even without buying new tyres. So Steve, try them out ;)

Steady guys, I'm getting there. I got a set of four with tyres this week, so I'll soon have them on for a trial fit...

Steve

Be careful if you buy some. They come in 6J and 6.5J.

Those wheels look like a meaner evolution of the current VXT ones. A big thumbsup. Look forward to seeing the results. I'm also interested in the first picture as a "What happens next?" caption competition. Did the Astra mount the cow on the way past?

seen an astra tonight with a set of these on. was tempted to steal them. (jokin) they have a much cruvier spoke than the flat spokes of the vxt wheels.. but if just wanting them for cheap trackday use i think they will match up ok my thinking is getting another pair of standard rear vxt wheels, pair of tatty 16inch astra wheels, get them powdercoated black and a set of r888's to suit. - set of cheapish trackday wheels!

Hi John,

I'll weigh one for you today. I agree it won't be the lightest option, but this is really for those like me, who want a 16/17 look and feel. I've always thought that the skinny 17's looked a bit silly! When you can get a shod 16" rim for under £50. then it's a good deal!

Thanks Dan - I've just sent them to you. I'll post my thoughts on the change-of-feel after I've done Blackpool, Coventry and back to Basingstoke this week, but it feels nice in the few miles I've done. Less harsh over the bumps.
