Interesting thumbsup That manifold looks sweet too! :D What turbo is in the VXR? I'd like to get a hold of it's map.

there is also a thread on vauxsport for reading compressor maps ;)
http://www.vauxhalls...turbos-t92.html

a fair wealth of info on there for forced induction (mainly the turbo route)

because they get posted on www.z22se.co.uk instead thumbsup

I'm currently building a 11:1 CR bottom end with wiseco special order pistons and also building up a saab head with gm racing components.

I'm aiming for a reliable 7600 rpm top end, rather than my current 7000rpm, so hopefully another jump in power.

shame the forum layout is a chore to actually use now :( plus all the astra/veccy owners dont like brutal honesty lol. Still a good source of talking points though.

sounds like a fun build :), why not destroke the tart and go for 8K+

My LY used to change at around 7000+ rpm (dont know exaclty how much as it used to go all the way off the clock) and would still pull to the limiter which was pretty high.

Rods will suffer first then the crank. No one knows the exact limit of the crank (bar 8K being a sensible rev limit for a std one).

Tons and Tons of LET related tuning info (in terms of the parts etc) on vauxsport.

I am surprised static, dynamic balancing and blueprinting gets so little mention in this thread. If this is a given then I will sound like a someone giving lessons in egg sucking to their elders and betters so please accept sincere apologies for that. I don't think I need to explain what this is about to you guys but it must be crucial to reliable max revs and power.

I plan to build from the oil pan up! I've a budget of around 12k for the the engine build. I will bring the engine up to it's safe max RPM and be content with that, main focus is torque and power. Going with GM Billet crank plus their Ecotec Racing Piston & Pin Set (Part # 889586350) or similar gives you an engine with 2.0 liters of displacement with 10.5:1 compression so I should be able to move beyond 8000 RPM safely. Again, I'm looking for power + long term reliability. The dry sump concept is interesting......... thumbsup

unfortunately as has been mentioned... the Z22SE lump is a stupid long stroke monster so wont lend itself to revving well, even with a perfect balance setup/blue printing.
