todays work :D . i´ve spent 3 hours of driving in heavy traffic to fetch the rollcage mainhoop and some tubes. after discussion with the fia-guy, i decided to make the cage by myself (except the main hoop). he gave me ok with the changes i had to do to fit it. then i spent 2 hours with the suspension-guy to dismantle and sort out the settings of my dampers. got my hands on 2 pairs of brand new 46prc öhlindampers for the outrageous amount of 400€ :jump: . it is an older kind of damper from around 1998 with piggyback nitrogen-reservoir. the backside is that i have to find out and change all the settings inside to get the handling right for my car and that will cost about 500€ extra in parts. no pics will be posted this week due to wiferelated disturbance :D can´t see why its so important to take the children to the cinema and my wife to a party

Thanks I am interested by specifications of fuel pump connection on the fuel tank itself. Indeed, I woud like to replace my own fuel tank by lightweight fuel tank (aluminium) designed for elise S2 (-7 kg) and sold by elisepart. I suppose the fuel tanks but are identical but I would like to have confirmation of this fact. So when I saw you have dismantled your car, I think it is good oppotunity to get these usefull pieces of information. cheers Chris

dude, while it is off the car, would it be too much asking to put the fuel tank on a scale? ;) did you get $$$ estimate for lightweight front-rear clams?

thanks dude for photos. I received today S2 aluminium fuel tank and it is quite similar with OEM one shown on your photos. The weight of elise S2 lightweight fuel tank is of 5,877 kg. I brought it to my Opel dealer, and I give him the car next week in order he proceeds to the fuel tanks exchange. I keep you infromed of the results of this modification. I put photos of S2 fuel tank on forum next week.

good job chris.... B) I guess that if the weight saving is substantial, I'll be buying one as well! :P ...I HAVE to.... :P let me know if the swap is easy or if any modification to attachment points are needed...I'd like to do it on my own... :D

After examination of dude photos, at first sight modifications concern only two small vents pipe which are not existing on S2 lighweight fuel tank. These two pipes are shown on photos. one is located near filling neck and the other which is connected closed to the fuel pump. I suppose these two pipes are associated to the charcoal venting system. From my point of view this system is useless, but for anti-pollution reasons, it is statutory. Moreover, I guess this system should weight about two kg or more ... Another subject to earn kg for you Ricky ... :P

the original fueltank incl fuelpump etc is 14kg as seen in the pics.
my new 100ltr alloytank is about 10kg.
