Looks like Mandrinvx has worked out how to use his camera then

Hoping to pop along to the Abingdon trackday on Friday if they allow spectators (and its not peeing it down!) should give me a good chance to have a play with the 200mm lens, I take it I need a relatively fast shutter speed for racing, anything else I need to know?

Try this

QUOTE (snoopstah @ Mar 17 2008, 21:47 ) *
QUOTE (Baron Von Scubadaddy @ Mar 17 2008, 13:06 ) *
can you not pan with the car using a quick shutter speed
to achive motion blur on back ground
and still image in foreground

Yup, that's the trickiest shot (panning with the car). I say slow shutter speed as it generally is compared to what your camera would normally choose on a bright day, but it's still relatively fast. If you get it just right the car is sharp (but the moving bits on the car, i.e. the wheels, aren't!

Have a play as well you never know what you may get
Hope the weather is good for you

Mandarin - hold camera to your eye and have someone measure from camera base to floor - some monos don't fit people [comfortably] so check length first. thumbsup

I always found that a length of string tied to bottom of camera and around your shoe worked very well, just pull tight and camera stays very stable, best of all very sizable, portable and cheap.

I know we always come up with the best ideas (and usually the cheapest!)

On a more serious note if you are out with the camera on a walk etc this is a very simple light weight solution.

Love the pic btw.
