Fluffies :jump: I'm not a dog person, but Jasper looks like the biggest ball of gorgeous soppy fluff going  Everyone else's fuzzy chums are gorgeous too  Elaine - I have added 'ex-batt' chickens to the list of second-hand animals I will be 'entertaining', when I get my dream home with lots of land for recycled beasties :)

Cool. :groupjump:
We wouldn't be without our hens now, they're the easiest to care for pets we've ever owned. :)

Every day we simply water their droppings into our lawns/raised beds, pick the few droppings & dirty bedding out of their coop by rubber gloved hand (there's no wee-wee as such, that's the white part of bird's poo), then plump their straw/wood chippings.

We change their water every 3 days (with an added splash of cider vinegar every now & then).
Top up their layers pellets when they're running low (after throwing away the dregs).

Every few weeks we empty the coop completely, check for beasties, then add fresh bedding.

Twice a year they need to be wormed (in food), dusted with anti-mite powder unless you suspect red mite before that time, then you'd dust them immediately, and their coop needs cleaning with poultry shield (to stop the beasties).

How easy is that? And you get yummy fresh eggs every day of course. :)

E. ;)

Her's some pics of my bearded dragon Ozzie, we bought him at the beginning of December when he was 9 weeks old and measured about 4 Inches from his nose to the tip of his tail, he's now coming up to 1 year old and growing rapidly.

The day we bought him

Yes it is possible to wash your cat in the shower and live to tell the tale.. here she is assessing the jump necessary to clear the top of the shower cubicle, she did try the jump but unfortunately didn't factor in the extra weight of the water stuck to her fur :D

She arrived home covered in stuff I can't mention on here, otherwise I'd never have put her through it, this is a picture taken about an hour after I'd towelled dried and used up the last of the kitty treats by way of an apology.

PS.  I went the extra mile and actually rung the vets to find out what I could use to shampoo her that was safe, they recommended puppy shampoo (I'm sure you aren't surprised cat shampoo isn't readily available!), she's never smelt as good since :D

I wish I could put here what it looks to me like she's thinking  Did she spend the next week licking herself to rid her fur of that 'strange non-me smell'?

Something like 'are you going to follow it up with a manicure?' :D I think she did yes! Though it would be hard to tell as thats one of her favourite past times, along with moulting..

Er, no. Something more along the lines of 'You. Complete. F***ing. A*us.'

He's a doddle, and to be honest we couldn't ask for a better dog.......

We take him on long runs through the woods daily, so he doesn't get bored, or destructive like some boxers do. :)
And have trained him to the whistle, voice & hand signals (we use the varied combination because that's what he responded best to as a puppy). He comes to us immediately when whistled (whereas he'll sometimes ignore the first voice call), we use voice commands for 'this way' and 'down' and voice, or hand signals for 'sit'. :)

We've never given him our foodstuffs, so he doesn't beg or slobber at the presence of food.

He'll play fight us on command, and stop when told to. At nearly six stones he's getting a bit big for me to play now though (I'm only seven and a quarter), he doesn't hold back with those batting paws. Boxer by name, boxer by nature!

Of course Sten still has his mad 10 mins crashing around the garden, but thankfully he doesn't bother trying to get the hens to join in! :D

E. :)
