This is Waffle: the first of two Guide Dog puppies which we have walked. Waffle is now a working Guide dog. Recently we had a call from her blind partner who told us she had pulled her back from walking in front of a fast approacing car, maybe saving her life. We are very proud of her.

They are that, I sponsor guide dogs and get regular "pupdates" on the progress of the sponsored dog, complete with cute photos. Would like to do some puppy walking at some point too.

If you've got the time, puppy walking is incredibly rewarding. It's hard to hand them over when it's time for the professional trainers to take over though. On the plus side, you can take your guide dog puppy anywhere (resaurants, pubs, shops etc.) and as a babe magnet it massively outscores the VX220.  We had a phone call from the blind girl who is guided by Waffle last night. It's her first dog and she says it's transformed her life because everybody wants to stop her and talk about her dog !  The fact it can guide her around seems almost secondary !

Bit of background, my nephew is severely autistic , cannot talk. Its been suggested he has a autistic support dog , (he is prone to bolting away suddenly). His favourite thing is horse riding and to see the difference it makes to him is amazing.

Our guide dog puppies have been welcomed everywhere. They wear a blue tabard which says " guide dog puppy in training". They are a great talking point.

Meet little Olly.

Unfortunately he's not mine but a neighbours dog.  He gets a couple of schmacko treats from me every time I see him and its got to the stage that he now lies down on my drive every time he passes and his owner has to physically drag him away.

Believe it or not the breed is called 'Teddy Bear'.     (Or more accurately Tiara Teddy Bear).

Olly has a little friend up the road (who also gets treats from me).  A cracking little mongrel mutt called Murs.
