don't know whether it's potholes or what, but it could explain why the cars that Scared Still are seeing are all out.

They said most of the cars they see are very similar, so it would appear that they haven't been knocked out from their factory settings, but that they are providing an improvement over the factory settings. They think mine was setup badly initially - you wouldn't get the toe that much out of line, and positive camber on one wheel from a few pot holes.

The upside of the Scared Stiff setup is that they use a paint-stick to mark their setup...so even if it does get knocked out, you can simply have it reset to those positions :)

skiddo - that's quite scarey...reading over the old threads, it was your glowing report that made me finally take the plunge  :D

shims are removed and toe is locked off

I was quite worried when the mechanic emerged with a little bag of oily bits...I was waiting for him to say "well, we've put it back together, but we're not too sure where these bits go"

Bengie, put it to the top of your list. You will get more out of it than an air filter, or an exhaust upgrade

dave - they're based in Daventry - give them a call on 01327 871353

But hey guys, WTF do we want with this understeer/oversteer business anyway. rant It's not the fastest way to track - you're just wasting power scrubbing all that speed and rubber off on the bend, aren't we? Sure, it looks great, exercises the mind and keeps us fit with all that arm twirling ;) Best and fastest way to power round and make max lap times, is to use the limits of the tyres grip in the run up to the apex with brakes, using the residual grip of tyres to steer round, then wop on the power at the apex and take the whole show off into the horizon - or the next bend  The understeer and oversteer malarky is a consequence of overcooking the above and not getting it just quite right :jump: Whatever, where is the Scared Stuff place anyway?

Mr hooves - you can never make a car that doesn't oversteer or understeer at all in certain situations. But you've just argued SS's case - their setup is much more neutral than the original setup. It works the four tyres more evenly together, so you can make the most of the total grip of the tyres (where you would previously have encountered understeer), the end result being faster cornering speeds

First, I'd hate for anybody to think I'm someone who knows WTF he's talking about. This car thingamajig is all new to me...... Next, i think it's all about production tolerances really, and the day-to-day bruising that our cherished toys take from our well-maintained and polished road surfaces :D We're expecting to use our toys on a daily trudge then hoping they'll be perfecc on the track, when we get thur Compromise is not a happy word that sits comfortably between a car used on a daily basis and a car that can perform at its best on a smoothly surfaced track. It's just reassuring to know there are outfits out there that know what nuts and bolts to play with to achieve the best with yer tackle. Which has to be something more than can be said with the likes of ya kik fits  , etc. My local one couldn't even set up the front tracking on the family hatch a little while ago, and within a month the missus had scuffed off the best part of 30 quids werth of tread, the car was directionally unstable, and wandered hopelessly that even she noticed it. :9mm:

damn shame. you should wait for better weather and make up some excuse to take it back and get him to 'just take it for a quick spin as somethin's not quite right, but it could be my imagination' type thing. :D

He did take my car out, but I didn't get to go with him....they were a bit tight for time I think. Interesting how far forward he had the seat, bearing in mind I think he's probably taller than me.

You will so not regret it matey.... How anybody can spend 20k on a car and not make it much better by spending £141 is beyond me :P Mind yesterday it seemed the quicker I cornered the more the front end gripped :D may go through front tyres a lot quicker but im more than happy with that :D
