Iv noticed flakes on my drivers door in the front bottom corner and bubbling on the front clam a month ago. Iv been to Pheonix today for a service and confirmed its this bubbling issue. Having had a good look around while on the ramp its all over the show! Front clam back clam and drivers door! bugger. Im joining the fight!!! does anyone have any good contacts or good vxl garages in the north west that i could contact/go to? Barry

Well mines currently at luton getting the clams done, and mine is a June 2002 car, and i bought it in december 2007, so technically if they have a problem with your car, then they should have had a problem with mine, but mine sailed through the inspection, has been away 2 weeks now and im missing her!

The inconsistency of Vauxhall annoys me nearly as much as the fact they won't sort out this problem..! :angry2:

Strugs,

I would suggest you are a case of 'wrong time and/or wrong place'

It's absolutely incontrovertible that Vaux have admitted/fixed these problems before.

So to me, it's either

Wrong time:- Ie Vaux insurance pot has been expended, either that or the (iirc spanish company) that made the clams has simply told vaux to fcuk off for replacements FOC.

Or

Wrong place:- Your Local vx defects repair advisor has had his collar pulled...and simply will not endorse repairs.

Personally, I'm still yet to be convinced 'minor' bubbling (small blisters under the paint or laquer) is osmosis...more like shite prep....and I've heard that from other peeps too thumbsup

Either way, stick with it thumbsup

Agreed with that. The cost for Vauxhall and the clam supplier has been pretty huge, especially when cars went to the tech centre, it sucks but I think that's the way it is now :(

I actually said in my last letter that I did feel I could have gone to a different dealership, on a different day, and I might have had the work already done by now! They didn't respond to that..

What gets me is they are still doing this work - rturner, who kindly sent me a copy of his invoice, had his done just a few weeks ago!

I have to agree with you on the dealer part, mine got approved on the second dealer i tried. The first one insisted that the paintwork on vauxhalls doesnt go like that, he'd never heard of any problems like this, and apparantly he had seen a few vx's, and with the problem on my clam, it was obvious to him that the clam had been resprayed at some point. He wouldnt even phone for an inspector to see it! The second dealer took one look, said theres obviously a problem, booked it for a warrenty inspector, phoned me the same day to say it had been approved, arranged a half reasonable loan car, and i have had good service from him every step of the way. This dealer is 50 miles away from where i live, but so much better than the one near me! Heres a thought, might be worth making a thread listing the dealers that fob you off and the ones that sort the problems, that way people in the future might have a fighting chance of getting the work done

To be fair, I don't think it's the fault of the dealer. It was inspected by the Customer Care District Manager. I guess I could do with finding out how big an area that CCDM covers!!
