Yep, all of that. Thats the other voice in my head and I guess like YorB is saying is a manly instinct which I'm trying to fight. Its only been a couple of weeks and I'm not about to make a 5 minute desicion on something that has been in my life for a couple of years now. I'm choosing to stick it out. Its nothing to do with drink btw, she doesn't drink. Her problems are part of who she is and I'm used to them and I know what you're saying about improving her life and making her more confident, christ she's meant to be the trophy girl at this weekends F2 world Semi Finals. It sounds like its all bad, but its not I wouldnt stick it out if I had that a hard life itd be impossible. When she's fine she's the best person I've ever met and we have great times, she's more into motorsport than I am, loves cars, music, theatre, acting, modelling. Always something goin on. She once said when I was thinking of giving up the VX that she'd shave her hair off I looked at her and she just started laughing. She's a funny lass. These last couple of weeks have been particularly hard though. But we'll see what comes of it. I don't want to talk about it anymore in here but I'm sure whichever way it goes I'll say something. She's had a lot of problems in her life and one of the things I promised her a long time ago was to stick by her no matter what and never abandon her. I keep my promises. But its taking alot out of me.

I've heard that before! Every relationship is different, just like every person is different but I heard the same thing for 3 years as I put up with mood swings, violent outbursts and verbal abuse when she'd had a few drinks. The excuse for this was a troubled past. I took it all in and just like you, stuck by my girlfriend through thick and thin because obviously I was "in love". I helped to improve my ex's life over the time I was with her, she grew stronger and more confident and finally, when she felt strong enough to brave it on her own, I was dumped. How's that for gratitude. She used to beg me not to leave her just like I'm sure your girlfriend does. I know I sound like a broken hearted cynic but my advice is, don't be a mug. I have no idea what your girlfriend has been through and I have no idea how she treats you but don't be a doormat.

I had the edd zackery same thing done to me with my first long termer - i was young then and learnt the hard way.

As Mikey said Scott, don't be a door mat mate - if you feel it's too much for you then go out and enjoy yourself - your still young after all
