I know that. What was I going to use as an example of a GM executive car? An Omega?

Cadillac?

Is it April 1st already???? :o

A positive outcome of this hopefully would the continual supply of parts for the VX for a longer period of time. It may (but I doubt it) drive the parts prices down. :D

In addition the VX may be refined for other countries (air conditioning etc) which inturn those developments may become available here.

It also could be good news for Lotus, they could build the Daewoo Speedster here....Keep the jobs in this country.

Anyway a Korean meet might be quite entertaining. ;)

You could always buy a Daewoo Speedster swap the badges, get the good old V grille back on... it will probably come with 5 years free servicing.... they will pick it up from your door and drop it back later ... give you one of those Matiz thingies... :P

And you won't even need to go to your Vauxhall dealer....don't Halfords service Daewoo??

And the price.................you've seen how cheap Daewoo are...

I predict we will all have Debadged Daewoo Speedster Turbo's.

Dave

PS .... Don't do it Vauxhall

I've got no problem with this as long as we get the free servicing and all the other add ons they need to add on to sell cars. In much the same way I'm happy owning the Vauxhall over a Lotus (despite the fact it's a better car) by having a 3 year warranty rather than 2.

I think this subject was bought up in another thread. 'Most' of us here are not badge snobs - that is why we drive a Vauxhall and not a Lotus. A Daewoo speedster (or even a Yugo speedster) would not put me off as long as the car drove/ handled the same as my VX. If I could save a few quid because it has the wrong badge on the car, I would. And that is exactly what I did when I bought the VX.(is that Skoda badged VX still about??) Why buy an Audi A3, when all it is a rebadged Seat Leon??? All IMO... Mike

fcuking vauxhall, first they drop the price of the NA to 10p then they go do this, I do love the car, I dont care about badges but I do care about the feeling of seeing any residuals I had go out the window cus of some marketing crap. I know I didnt buy the car as an investment, but vauxhall could of done more to protect the prices by not being such twats. :9mm:

Proton own Lotus... Daewoo is now just another GM brand so it shouldn't be too surprising.

No, it certainly isn't surprising. I would have still expected them to put a little more effort into it if they were going to call it a concept car. Change the wheels or paint it in some wacky colour or something. Anything.

Thread resurrection...

Was looking at different paint colour options and found this photo.

Posted Image

Nearly fell off my sofa...

If I'd seen this before buying my Vauxhall, I'd have been looked for something even cheaper on Autotrader...

Then I could tell people I drive a Daewoo. Zero complaints on company car policy until they saw it

This is what wikipedia says about the Opel Speedster :  "It was built in both right-hand drive and left-hand drive versions at the Lotus Cars plant in Hethel, Norfolk, England. It was sold as the Vauxhall VX220 in the UK, and as the Opel Speedster in the rest of Europe. It was branded the Daewoo Speedster in the Asian market, in both right and left hand drive."

Nope, it makes it a little used shitbox.  Doesn't make it valuable.
