Today i fitted the harrop.. What a fcuking pita!! Wasnt just as easy as it was made out to be, i had to modify some wiring to makepart of the look longer, the bulkhead had to be cut to get two bolts in and tight, map sensor had to be moved around as the charger fouled the sensor, the fuel pump had to be changed for a bigger flow one so i had to modify the fuel housing, the dipstick had to be moved but ither and all that it was reasonable straight forward..

Its on now, just need to get a couple bits done and the fuel pump filter found (i need the original one again) i should be able to drive it. Started it up and it fired and ran fine which was a relief.

Anyway.

back to the hardtop today..

its true what they say about bad luck coming in 3's

firstly i ran over my starter relay pushing the car out of the garage (£40)

Posted Image

then i realised i cut my wing ends exactly the same which means they are both for the same side doh... ah well ordered another sheet.

and 3rd, i smashed my fav pint glass! grr!

anyway.. hardtop

i have to create a lip on the front for 2 reasons, 1 to stop water going in between the 2 skins and 2 to have something the seal can stick to.

1st layer
Posted Image

2nd layer
Posted Image

hopefully that should be it for the fibreglassing and bodyfillling.. after that i need to spray up the louvers black and then warp it.

ive decided im not going to hinge it for now as im having trouble finding a hinge i like so im going to just leave it on the aero catches so i can drive it.

i dont im afraid. :(

car hasnt been out of the garage in weeks :(

ive not got much to do now before its ready.

ive had to get a new fuel pump as the plastic around the wires split

Posted Image

so hopefully receiving that tomorrow, then once thats in the tank its just the spoiler to mess, the splitter to mount then stick the 2 skins together of the hardtop and then i can take it to RStuning in leeds to see how much its running lean by.

finished my fuel pump off tonight

the old pump was a walbro 255 but had starvation issues when mapping the harrop on someone elses car. (he made 377bhp)

many have decided to get a swirl pot to sort this out but i decided to get an uprated intank pump.

specs of both

Old Pump
Flow Ltr/Hr (Max):- 318
Flow Ltr/Hr @ 3 Bar (44psi):- 255
Flow Ltr/Hr @ 5 Bar (73psi):- 225
Max Pressure:- 8.5

New Pump
Flow Ltr/Hr (Max):- 510
Flow Ltr/Hr @ 3 Bar (44psi):- 390
Flow Ltr/Hr @ 5 Bar (73psi):- 285
Max Pressure (Bar):- 7.5

Chris, what did you do to refurb the lens covers?

I've got a similar problem with mine and until gforce8 or fez come up with replacements, I'm gonna have to do something similar to you
