Wishing you a quick recovery mate...Oh and if you ever need any orthopaedic help give us a shout as between me; my colleagues and my better half we know a lot of good surgeons/ physios. Gotta say the VX looks to have protected you "reasonably" well for a head on.

Gosh Nick. You sure have taken a large piece of lady luck's cake there and stuffed it. I guess bones knit and meld, flesh and skin rejuvenate and scars fade and add character but that fragile candlelight of life can all too easily be snuffed out by the merest of jolts or blasts from life's cruel wind. I'm so happy to see that light that is you is still burning bright. This looks to have the fingerprints of a fate that refused to see you pay the piper all over it and i am more than aware that this could all too easily have been a thread about the loss of a vx-er as well as a vx. Wishing you strength for as quick and as painless a recovery as is humanly possible. I know from personally suffering massively traumatic injuries myself also, that there are many more painful steps ahead of you, we're with you every step of the way. Best regards... ..icey. :grouphug:

Wow....that looked nasty. Good thing you can't remember too much about it. Glad the ladies in the Clio weren't hurt badly and that you, although badly injured, should be back to pre accident shape within the year. You should be pulling off some pretty nifty moves in the wheelchair in that time.

I am very sorry to see this Nick - I remember meeting you at the Midlands meet just the weekend after you bought the car; you let your mom drive back from the Waterman. You are indeed very lucky to be alive; cars can be replaced, but people can't :( Get practicing going sideways in that wheelchair - I knew someone from on my beat that had a motor fitted to theirs; it could do 40mph!!! Damn thing needed a licence  - used to have us in stitches seeing the old guy go down the road on it (his son fitted the motor ... and it 'probably wasn't legal' ;)). I hope to see you at some of the meets when you have made a recovery - best of luck with it and take the very best of care :) Thinking of you N x

Hope you get well soon buddy. This is one of the prime reasons I have a 4 point harness, hopefully it's never really required...

Crikey you have been lucky it seems! One thing thats always surprised me when these things crop up is the usual "oh these are tough little cars" comments. They are not tough cars! They are made out of rice paper! The word "disitergrate" often crops up with VX crashes and we've heard of a couple of fatalities over the last year or two. Something everyone should bear in mind when driving them.

eh? He walked away from a head on collision and you're saying it isn't a tough car?

The bodywork disentergrates yes but that aborbs energy as it does so and you wouldnt really expect fibreglass to do anything more. I've been on the forum almost 5 years now and I can safely say im confident that there are many many people who owe their life to the car and that i wouldnt be any happier in an NCAP 19 star car surrounded by airbags.

Crash any modern car and it will look a real mess afterwards due to all the crumple zones etc - the glassfibre does the same thing.
