This is all very interesting. The Piper costs less and is easier to install. I appreciate the other one may well have a better flow but is the Piper one still going to be a significant improvement over standard.

Good call :)

Here is the photo we took with the heat shield fitted:

Myself and Courtenay have these in stock now so just give one of us a call when you want it and we can arrange shipment.

Garry: Thanks. What else in the way of gaskets etc. required?

Vocky: Been reading that with modified intake/2.4 you need the FRP to the manifold. I got PSR to fit my 2.4 following your instructions on Z22SE. Thicky Q: Does this mean my FRP is already onto the manifold?

Also, can a cone filter be added to the Vectra C pipe or is the drain pipe method easier?

Also, will a larger TB do me any good or will it all end up a hassle to get it running right? Alternatively, what about having the current one ported?

My 65mm 2.4 TB is absolutely not restrictive at 8600rpm with high lift cams, ported head and good flowing valves, so I really doubt the stock one (even if smaller) is really the issue some think it is.

Sorry to butt in on this thread, but would the Piper exhaust manifold fit on a standard engine with standard downpipe/cat section, or do you need the 2.5" exhaust/downpipe to go with it? Also been reading posts about this Christ Tullet exhaust - and the downpipe (2.5") with 100 cell cat sounds like it will be considerably cheaper then the £600 odd for the Piper 200 cell cat one - would this section fit with the Piper exhaust manifold, and the piper 2.5" backbox? Just thinking I'm struggling to justify £600 for a sport car/downpipe. Thanks

Yes all our parts are 100% interchangeable between the standard parts so should also marry up to Chris Tullets products :)

Superb, thanks for the reply. Means I can go ahead hopefully next month with the piper exhaust manifold purchase with some backpay I'm getting and put that on at the same time as the 2.4 inlet manifold I've got. Then I'll be saving some more cash for sport cat/2.5" backbox purchase, before going on to hopefully get some uprated cams and maybe the 64mm throttle body/remap.

On the assumption the Piper manifold must be adding some power both to the standard engine and if I SC it, I will be getting one. My Milltek system is settling and moving a bit so it will be a good excuse to get that re-centred and tightened. I may well have a go at a DIY intake but keeping it cheap because I am finding the CS Stage 1 SC harder and harder to resist. I have no permission from SWMBO. It would just have to go there for a "remap" ... I would explain how the extra power makes a distinctive whining noise   I was thinking how daft to add £3.7K of charger to a £7K car. Then today I was in PSR and found Paul busy fitting an Audi S3 engine (I think it was that) into an S1 Elise. That conversion costs more than the car is worth and makes the SC seem good VFM ;)

My wife still thinks the week mine spent at Courtenays was down to all of the messing around with the various exhaust configurations we've been trying. Got to come up with an excuse for why it's got to disappear to Pro Alloy for a few days now. When she finally gets back in it, I think I'll have to be gentle on the throttle so as not to raise any suspicions. :D

CBA with that. Milltek cat bit fine. Just watched another MAXR vid and relived my pax ride at Brands and that lovely push in the back after each corner accompanied by the 'charger whine  I'm leaving the area soon and know I will never be bothered to drive to CS from the SW so it's now or never ...

Yes please mate. She's having difficulty grasping the need to change exhaust 4 times in a month. :D

This is Vectra C pipe, I think bolting a K&N straight to this would not be near enough to the side vents?

I guess a drain pipe, especially covered in a heat reflection material and reaching right to the vent, would be best. I spoke to John at CS and he verified that the Piper manifold is very good and that I would definitely feel the difference on an NA. However, he said that if I supercharge the car, the manifold is less critical and that I would not notice the difference. So, I have decided to forget messing around with the induction (saving £50 or so), the exhaust manifold (saving about £500 when you include fitting), the 2.4 remap (saving £350) and put the £900 saved towards a supercharger. I see its 9.00am so I must stop typing - CS are open for (my) business :D

Had a look at the Piper manifold yesterday whilst at Coutenays and have to say it does look well engineered. thumbsup There are far less welds than the Regal one i had many moons ago Just can't help thiniking that fitting to a 2" Miltek system will be a waste of time though. Decisions decisions, full system or stay with the current set up

you will be better off fitting a 2.5" or 3" to your sc beast thumbsup

but that is a slippery slope to eagle rods and forged pistons, then Nick will show you his Harrop and .......
