Courtenay stage 5 with ITG, 2.4 inlet, 4-1 piper, Miltek exhaust and DIY ported throttle body.
you spent nearly £4k on getting 185ish bhp?

you dont need double valve springs unless you go over 7k revs... plus what are you going to risk braking going over 7krevs unless you get 250bhp then i suggest changing the rods

It's not just power that kills the bottom end - revs can just as easily do it.
With the amount of lift the cams I have see how long the standard springs would last at 7k....
And as a general observation who knows for sure what regime of testing the GM build book was done under? Could be a full-on dyno 24h durability test, or a couple of full bore rags up a drag strip - no one knows.....
As for SC I'd rather my car didn't sound like a demented washing machine tar-very-mooch!

It cost less than £3k as I had stuff like the exhaust. I tried the (cheap) DIY route and was lucky to get away without ruining my engine.
Sorry i think we've gone a bit off topic here.

Of course you're right £3k is shed load of cash, but I guess I wasn't thinking straight at the time.. Mind you, I don't think any of us that hang around here think that straight - tuning rarely makes sense.
No hissy fit here - it's all good fun
