Just been at bad crash at Mallory. Been doing CPR on him for 15 mins. Air ambo is here now. At the Morgan meet with my dad... just when I was getting the courage to maybe go on a track day myself...

Yeah was a track day, not much protection in those Morgans. He went wide on a bend, spun on the grass, went across the track and hit the crash barrier on the drivers side. Apparently his head hit the barrier. Very sad.

Very sorry to read this. Fortunately any sort of coming together is pretty rare on a trackday. :( PS Whippet, try not to let this put you off doing a track day. LoT (and others) have novice days and there is invariably tuition available. You can even hire an instructor for the day. PM me if you want info.

Thing is........... I know how I'd rather go. Hope the driver is making a good recovery marshals and medics would have done all they could to give this fella a chance. Still not nice to hear though :( Don't think I'll tell the wife about this one.

mallory seems like such a safe and easy track although with my geo needing done gerrards seemed quite tricky to carry speed through. but i guess in a competition situation it would be quite tight going into most bends. also guess the fact it seems easy would give you false sense of how fast you could go. hope this isnt fatal.

Mallory is trickier than it looks. It's VERY fast; and some of the corners are way more technical than they seem at 1st look. Track day; or racing....you gotta accept there's always going to be the potential for accident/ injury. Really hope the guy pulls through and recovers though :grouphug: but 15 minutes CPR

I hope the driver is okay, its a stark reminder that motorsport is dangerous and we are all human and prone to make mistakes. A few days ago I attended an ADAC organised 'handling day' at their facility in Grevenbroich with the Speedster club of Germany and I cant reccomend this type of day enough. To all that do track days and drive in a spirited way on the road its a worthwhile, it taught me a lot and only demonstrated that the VX really is a tricky car - never 'try' to get one sideways. Cheers Ian
