According to the photographer who I think saw it all - he was coming out of Devils Elbow and went wide on to the grass. He was possibly overtaking coming out of there. It spun the car across the track and hit the barriers on the near side opposite the pit lane. He said that his head hit the barrier... you are really close to the side of the car in those Morgans...

Any news on whether he made it?

My dad is a member of that forum and gets regular emails from them, and it seems that unfortunatley it was a fatal accident, the gentleman concerned was called Richard and my thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends :grouphug:

Very very sorry to hear that :( His poor family must be beside themselves :grouphug: Trevski: they don't have a forum and discussions are conducted by email I believe, so perhaps ask your father to pass on condolences to MSCC and his family from .org? :grouphug: Not sure what others think?

I feared that it would go that way... unfortunate to have been to enough RTCs in my job... At least he was there on his own and his family didn't see what happened. He'd parked up next to us. Only realised who it was when there was a space left beside us with his belongings on the floor... I don't really want my dad to do any more track days, he has Goodwood coming up. Silly I know, but I can't help feel that there's no side protection in those cars. At least he only has a throttle bodied 4 cylinder so there's far less torque if you get it wrong...

I have asked my dad to pass on all our condolences and well wishes via email to Morgan group and to the drivers family and we have said that it is from all at .org. I must point out that neither I nor my dad knows anyone personally, just he is registered on the website as he is a fan of Morgans.

For Those that Are intrested this is the message i sent for us. "Hi all, My name is Trevor and I'm writing on my behalf and also on the behalf of vx220.org , one of our members was at mallory on saturday with his father who is a Morgan owner, and consequently we were made aware on .org of the accident, my father is interested in Morgans and regularly receieves emails from your site, and this morning he made us aware of the awful news that the driver did not pull through. Whilst we are not Morgan owners, we are fanatical about cars and enjoy driving them on tracks, and so this extremeley sad incident has touched us greatly, we would just like to pass on our condolences and well wishes to the drivers family and all who knew him, a very sad day, may he rest in peace. From all at VX220.org" We have numerous messages of thanks, but one I shall Post here for everyone too see "Thanks for that kind post Trevor, at times like this, it is nice that car clubs pull together and can collectively shed a tear. The MSCC is very much a family-friendly club, and even though we have not all met each other, we are all pretty close. An incident like this is a big shake up for all motor enthusiasts. What a wonderful email Trevski Imnotworthy Thank you for sharing one of the replies Just can't get over the fact that you can walk through your front door for a fun day out, and never come back. You just forget about the fragility of life until something like this happens. Thank God he didn't suffer, and hopefully/probably didn't know what was happening :(
