But that was with a whole new extended subframe (and rear body).
True, the point is with enough time and money you could fit almost any engine into a car

The gearbox is a major fudge to do, plus the ratios are rubbish, plus issues getting a cable TB version
Why not just get advice for a decent Vocky spec 2.2
So VOCKY is the guy to speak to then. The main issue is i dont have loads of cash to throw at it and with the fear of been banished i wish the engine was a little more revvy (higher end power) like a mates S2 Elise. Dont get me wrong i prefer the VX but the S2 Engine is something else

The KA20 was an engine that was introduced as an alternative to the K-Series, before the Toyota unit and Z20let came along. When I had the unfortunate experience of having the head gasket go on my Exige S1 late 2001 the KA20 route was just being introduced as a direct result of the many engine failures of the K-series at that time. I rejected it on cost and for warranty reasons.
I've heard mixed reviews of the engine transplant it seems that without S/C's its pretty guttless and given the original gear ratios its not well matched but it did have one thing going for it the head gasket didn't let goahhh happy days.
Cheers

I was talking to a guy at the scottish motorfair who had an Elise S1 with a VTEC engine in it and he loved it. His brother had a SC elise and he said that it was just as quick but NA.
He said that you had to rev it to get the best out of it though.

Yeah that's what I heard you have to scream the engine to get anywhere in a hurry which is okay but a bit more hard work to drive quick thats all.
