lets see if anyone agrees with that comment about vockys low spec car

Haha, note the technicality in that I said 'purchasing', doesn't mean it is the 'low-spec' version any more ;) .

p.s. i dont have an NA :P

I must be confused, I thought you were supercharged?

PS I don't even know you but I did think 'where's that Joe 589 guy gone' last week when it was quiet

all it takes is typing in 0-60 calculator.....

like this

all you need to know is bhp at the flywheel, weight of the car and bingo all the statistics you need to make you have a bigger willy at the pub

doesnt take into account gearbox or grip.

I managed a 4.5 second 0-60 run in my 245bhp turbo with sticky tyres. I'm rubbish at launch starts tho, I recon a shade over 4secs is possible if you have no regard for the clutch.

it is the sc  when i cook i never use force induction always ue the best traditional method naturaly aspirated with a pinch of salt (itb"s)
better result in the end and it is all about the finishing produce and of course the driver ;)
itb"s with no fear that's business
back to the sandwich night ;)
can't afford a s/c anyway

1/ I think a 'bitey' clutch makes a big difference. I know my Sachs clutch can't cope with 350 lb/ft of torque and slips, and am pretty sure this limits the power delivery to the sheels in 1st gear, as it doesn't really bite the flywheel when you drop it. To emphasise this, the car is almost impossible to wheel spin on dry smooth tarmac even in first gear... 2/ I run R888 tyres, these make a huge diff to all aspects of grip on the car and must surely improve 0-60 times. 3/ Weight.... remember KE =1/2 MVV. This means weight in the car has an 'arithmetic line' graph influence on the acceleration. So for example, a reduction of say 45 Kg in your car (ie 5% weight reduction), will theoretically incur a 5% acceleration bonus to your 0-60 times. Eleminating 45 Kg off a Turbo car isn't that hard if you are a bit brutal... start by using an empty fuel tank, roof left at home.... 4/ Ambient air temps will help a lot, doing your 0-60 time in winter in 0 degrees will provide approx 10+ BHP more than in 30 degrees (in a 300 BHP car).

I think the equation your looking for is F = MA

F is the torque of engine - any losses and M is the mass of the car. Higher the force and the lower the mass the faster the acceleration.

but unfortunately the road will be cold, so not as grippy :)

there is also a trade off with 888s as they will be more inclined to slip the clutch rather than giving a limited wheelspin which can help you off the line
