Finally..... Poweeeer I purchased the 2.0 lsj engine with ECU, Harness, Flywheel, and pedal assembly and planning a complete swap. I will aim for a safe 300hp following GM's recommendations. " Building a 300 hp ECOTEC 2.0L Supercharged LSJ Engine " Has anyone ever did a complete engine swap, Engine and Ecu from an LSJ engine to the VX220 ?

For all you know this guy could be the most brilliant engineer ever. Never say never. I've seen 2 VR6 engines in a 4WD lupo. Anything is possible.

Well, it is "possible" but will need to have the entire existing vehicle (not only engine) harness redone in the VX

I'm putting a 2.0LSJ with Harrop into my VX, but retaining the standard ECU.

why are you retaining the standard ecu? as surely one of the main benefits of fitting the 2.0 lsj is the full remapable ecu?

Alanoo, I've done engine swaps before and I do believe that it can be done. Perhaps a lot of thinking, cursing and well some money too.... but thanks for your encouragement  Launching myself into this project will probably take me a good year without my VX but I think the outcome will be all worth it. What worries me the most is the electronic part and make it work, the mechanical part of it I think should be ok. We'll see when I start. Muncher, How far have got ? Are you keeping the std ECU because you do not have an LSJ ECU and Harness ?

I don't have the LSJ ECU, I figured that would prove more troublesome, I am also hopefully that in time Courtenay will be able to do more with the standard ECU.

A while back UMI racing used to carry the Delphi Mefi 4b that could have been a direct replacement, it came with basic codes allowing you to turn on your engine.....and they furnished the software as well, MSD carried it for a while and now I don't know who carries it anymore. I think it is easier to used the LSJ ECU over the std. 2.2 one. would anybody have the wiring diagram ? While I'm waiting for my engine to arrive I should spend the time studying.... Thanks in advance.

I wanted to do the same when I got a good deal with a complete LSJ engine, incl. loom and ecu.
With the HP-tuners program from the US you can program that ECU and there is also a lot of support available for the LSJ. (You will need things like switching the immobiliser off!)

An 2.0 LSJ conversion is still on my to-do list, but with the currrent Courtenay remap's it is just so much easier to buy some conversion parts, mount all the SC bits onto your 2,2 and remap your ECU => ~250HP will really do for some time. (Although I get used to it now... )

(And parts like the chargecooler system and a good exhaust you need anyway for both engines.)

Edit:
I have wiring diagrams for the LSJ engine and figured most things out already.

Well an engine swap, and a CAN driven engine swap is a very different world I am not even sure the LSJ ECU can work at all without the good ABS/TC/ESP ECU attached to it for example

:yeahthat: It's sucn a linear delivery you quickly get used to it and want more - although I'm successfully fighting it for now ...

The LSJ P12 ECU is a bit older than all the newer GM delphi units and works without CAN. So no need to wire in all the original ABS/TC/ESP ECU's.... chinky chinky

(The US Ariel Atom also uses the LSJ Engine. And these guys seem to sell OEM VX parts to the Lotus guys for good money => http://secantvehicle...powertrain.html )

Then it should be as "easy" as fitting a standalone except there's more sensors to wire, but basically the same kind of work

Well, as I already have a standalone and a fully homemade harness, this could be easy for me to swap to a LSJ ECU If I see a good deal on an ECU including loom on one of the US forums, this could be my winter project (well for my "second" engine which will be SC, as these ECUs do not rev high enough for my N/A if I remember...)
