Why wouldn't it? As long as all the relays are connected you'll be fine.

Does the engine start with the rear clam off?

I have my engine light on and she no start.

Yes I drove it with the rear clam off

as artic says, just make sure the relays and fuse are seated correctly

Could someone elaborate on where the relays are that I need to check?  The rear light relays are obviously not connected.

When I turn on the ignition I normally hear the charge cooler water pump running but now I get nothing except the engine light illuminated and it doesn't even try to turn over.

I changed the gear cables, so I've been knocking about in the cabin too.

I also gave the engine bay a bit of a wipe down, so potentially I've knocked something

They're normally in the boot - mentioned in this post here:  http://www.vx220.org...guide/?p=920970

Thanks for the pointers. I went over every relay and connection I could find to disconnect - clean - put back. Car started fine! I don't know which one was causing the issue but all fine now.

Does somebody keep a copy of the PDF version of the guide? The link does not work anymore... I would appreciate if you could re-post or PM. Many Thanks!

I think I have one somewhere, but otherwise have a look at the one with the pictures I made :

Pretty much covers all.
