Just done a bit of research and can confirm you are right.

2ZZ-GE 115kg

Z22SE 148kg

I would go smaller and lighter engine like the 1.6 16v Turbo out the corsa VXR. 190bhp out the box and 220bhp with a stage 1 from Thorney.

thats a great idea, and would be easier regards engine looms you would imagine?

I cant believe everyone was so against a diesel version, that would be a right laugh. The 2.2 isn't exactly a red line screamer is it?

does the 1.6 vxr have a rep for dropping pistons? or do you just mean a 1.6 with 200+ bhp?

aroudn 220bhp is when number 4 piston goes bang , if you run 80% of that power you should be okay

but then i suppose if your running sub 200bhp its silly to go to all the effort of an engine change. a SC NA wouldn't cost much more and be more reliable i would imagine

the W16 from a Bugatti Veyron would fit if you had enough ££££££s and knowledge.

Most 4 cylinder engines would fit in, some would be easier than others

wounded if anyone has put vauxhall 1.9 diesel 150 bhp and lots of tork as standard . .200bhp with re map . 55mpg in a big heavy vectra .just think if it was it a light Wait vx220

Diesel has been done:

Diesels are getting better, but I'll stick to a nice economical diesel Astra for everyday and the VX220 for weekend.

Apparently it's a highly tunable engine.

There's a stage3 tune to give 250bhp allegedly

[/quote] Going back to my ordinal question WOT ENGINE WILL FIT .i now Lot's of you spend £1000's on making your engines have a little more power but would it be cheaper to buy a low mileage engine with lots power as standard from the SCRAP YARD .( may by not a vauxhall ) any one now?

it's easier to fit than you imagine, all you need to do is swap the diff housing on the corsa vxr M32 gearbox and then just use the lotus M32 driveshafts and mounts

I already have a M32 gearbox fitted and it's getting the corsa vxr internals in a few weeks, but won't ever be fitting a 1.6 engine to my car :P

the corsa vxr engine and box would probably fit into the engine bay
