Keep us up to date when you manage to get the service carried out thumbsup - I'm interested to find the best place place for servicing around the Derby area.

Cheers

Will do. I think Tim uses them for servicing, and he's happy with them. I have used them for some work, and was happy with the work done, just a bit dubious about their attitude on the service desk.

That's good to know. It is kind reassuring to know that they only use one guy to do the VXs - in theory he should know how to treat them by now!

How do they do price wise?

Cheers

Martin is their specialist / officially trained VX specialist.

Price wise, typical dealer price. I'm afraid I can't remember what their hourly rate is. If I remember I'll ask them when I take it in.

So he did a 2 day course where he probably spent most of it drinking tea and then going home early :)

Ok so the results are in. And so far so good. Every time I have called, the staff have been helpful and friendly, and I have spoken to a few different people there in the last few days. And the car has had its service, and oddly actually sounds better. I can't put my finger on it, but when I started it, it seemed to sound smoother / quieter. So far then, positive for Pentagon Derby thumbsup

I've just booked a service and MOT at Pentagon Derby. It's booked in for 11th Jan. The 7th service, MOT and emissions pack (engine flush and some other stuff) for £221.

Did the bill still come out at £221? Mine's due its 7th year service and MOT so a detailed costing of the work will help in my negotiations (probably with TMS). What, for example, was the other stuff that they carried out.

Thanks for any further detail.

Actually with the bill, I was a little miffed. They priced it up and the guy said it came to £220.50 and then said its neither here nor there. I assumed they would charge me £220.50, but I still got charged £221. A very minor thing, but a little annoying all the same.

It was for an interim service. I also had included in that an "emissions service". Apparently this is a chemical engine oil flush, fuel system purge, lubrication of areas likely to develop creaks, brake de dust and other top ups. Not entirely sure how this differs from a normal service, but it was something like 8 or 10 quid more than the service and MOT price, so I thought it worth it just for the engine flush and lubrication (way hey).

I also got a health check printout and they refitted my number plate for me (it came off when I removed the cover this morning and it was too dark outside, and dirty and wet to be re-fit easily. They didn't charge me any extra for this.

If I remember correctly the pricing was something like £54 for the MOT ( :o ), £65 for interim service, £40 for the oil, £3 environmental charge, plus a few quid for the emissions service stuff. Sorry for the vague breakdown, didn't really check the invoice that closely as I got charged what I had already agreed with them.

I use Pentagon Vauxhall Burton for all the work on my car. Since I have owned it that equates to 45,000 miles. I TOTALLY recommend them. I have owned several high performance cars and used various garages over the years. Pentagon 'Vauxhall Burton have been the most satisfying to work with.
