meh, the core question is how much?

no idea, I suspect you could build better without so much bling and focussed totally on specification of materials

no details about comp ratio , but looks like mid range has suffered noticeably ,

compare : http://www.dyno-plot...vx220/index.htm

wonder if they used an early x20xev crank instead , no balance shaft cogs, so lighter

apart from that I'm disappointed it doesn't rev out to 8500 for a built engine.

It can rev to 8500 rpm MATE if i wanted to go that far !!!!!!!!!!

Hes only saying its not the new astra. Not that yours is old and sheddy or anything. Also our cars arnt designed for straight line speed more on a track.

But lets not get into a penis length competition

I'm not into spending 2.5 times the price i paid for my car on tuning. A little bit extra, yes, but spending that amount on a VX is ridiculous let alone spend it on an 'old' astra. (yes I said old, just like a vx is old.... they stopped making the gsi in 2005)

Going back on topic(!), my build is progressing (even though I currently have 5 broken bones in my body from my skiing accident and I am in a wheelchair). I intend to have all the mods that Courtenay have put into this stage 6 tune with the following slight differences:

1: Bespoke tubular exhaust manifold, not necessarily equal length as I would prefer to make the runners short and direct to the turbo to improve turbo spool up and reduce the surface area of tubes emiting heat into the engine bay. This might reduce power slightly however.

2: I am certainly putting the larger GT30R on my build. I am still in 2 minds as to whether to use:
--> 71mm housing with .86 A/R. This should produce approx 430 BHP.
--> 76mm housing with .63 A/R. This should produce approx 490 BHP.

3: I have solid lifters which allow for move aggresive cam profiles, hopefully gaining approx 10 BHP over hydraulics.

4: I have 10.5mm of inlet valve lift from new cams ground from blanks taking advantage of the solid lifters. This should also improve high end BHP.

5: I have finally found somewhere that makes +1mm dia valves so this too should add some high end BHP.

All this stuff is still being carefully blogged HERE

Pip pip, Nev.
