I was hoping my standard clutch with stage 3 would be ok, but it was slipping as soon as it was put on the rolling road. Oh well I will now have a lightened flywheel and competition clutch to add to my bill. Can't wait to drive it with the overboost switched back on, with the new clutch. Steve.

I think just stage 1 map now for me then or have the torque capped at 250ftlb if im gonna up end spending £3k or more I will be better off seliing mine and buying a stage 4 car allready done for me.

Where did you get the £3k number from ?

A Helix 4 or 6 paddle clutch plate + cover + release bearing is just £540 in total. Fitting it should not be more than £400 (I think DuncanVxr fits them for £300). So all in, less than a grand, unless you have a blued/gouged flywheel which is just another £200.

I have made the mistake of fitting a standard clutch after mine started to slip @ 258.9 BHP.

So going to have to take it all to bits again and fit an uprated one.

I really want to go for the best one possible incase i decide to join the stage 4 club.

whats the difference between Helix & sachs clutchs?

From reading the posts i belive a 6 paddle would be better for day to day use.

CS list the lightened and balance fly wheel for £225, so i think i will be haveing one those also. or is cheaper anywhere else?

Been looking on the internet for some where that sells the Helix or Sachs clutchs but cannot seem to find them.

CS dont list them, TMS list a sachs clutch but only looks like a 4 paddle, Couldnt see anything on Regal..

Cheers

My VXT is 04 & despite me driving like a granny, it couldn't cope with CS2 (240bhp ish) Had to change it when CS3 came along. Lightened flywheel was a real unexpected revelation - well worth it.

I have just had a lightened fly and it helps the rev ability of the engine without making idle and low revs really lumpy. I went for the competition clutch and it is not much heavier that oe. I have heard paddle clutches are very difficult to drive with, as they are difficult to modulate - especially in stop start traffic.

Phone courtenays up and play the poor overworked fireman routine and promise to spend lots of money in the future. This works well for me being a poor paramedic.

I have a spare 4 paddle sachs clutch / uprated cover and l/b flywheel ;) used but in full working order and very min wear For the money it costs to pay someone to swap it really is worth paying the extra on the clutch imo DG For stg 4+ no point going for anything other than 6 paddle option ;) Oh and you will find the uprated cover by Helix / sachs is actually the same item ;) :D I have soooo much pointless info in my head

:yeahthat:
So much less resistance, makes the car so much more eager IMO.
