well little update.. i plugged the battery on the car for about 5 seconds as plumes of smoke appeared from the rear.. what i had done is caught the live wire going to the altenator on the manifold, luckily it was just the sheething on the wire that melted, it wasnt on for long enough to do much more damage luckily. ive not recovered it and made sure its well out of the way. on a positive note, the car is done, well the only thing left to do is mount ecu, plumb in the header tank and wire in the relay for the charge cooler pump and we are ready to go.

Halfords do the EXACT right cable for about £3...!

quick question, and quick pic,

when im plumbing up the chargecooler pipes etc, does this look about right?

Posted Image

the charger i got from courtenays, well the entire job lot i got from them tbh,

Is it just me or would it mot better if the 'hot' water to the rad, then the cooled return into the header tank and the output of the header is pumped into the manifold ?

as it stands it just looks like the header tank will heat soak :s

It's arguably if this routing brings a bit cooler water directly to the cores, as the tank can heat up a bit by hot exh. air. But for the above reason I routed it: Tank bottom > Pump > Laminova's > CC > Tank top.
Should make for a small supply of cooled water...

johnny - the only thing left to do is mount the ECU and bleed the systems. regarding the piping, the way i have done it means the coldest water gets to the laminovas first, there is no point for the hot water to go to the rad if its going to come back and sit in the header tank so it can get heated up again. by piping it up this way you are guarenteed to get the coldest water to the manifold with minimum heat soak. i spoke to jon and he agreed this is the best way to do it.

a few teathing problems to be honest. 1. the car will idle irratically between 1000 and 1500 revs for about 10 mins, after 5 mins of driving it will idle at 1000 2. the battery light stays on all the time and the volts read 12.1/12.2 (think its the alternator that fried) 3. the lights on the head unit were flashing on and off asif there wasnt enough power to power it 4. the relays in the boot are behaving oddly, the engine stayed running when the key was out and the injectors were buzzing 5. when accelerating the limiter kicks in at 5400 in 1st same in 2nd then about 6 in 3rd and i didnt bother trying 4th. other than that i had a nice smile on my face, im going to call jon tomorrow regarding no.1 & no.5, ill buy all new relays for the boot and ill have a look at getting a new alternator. could it be something i havent wired in propperly?

the high idle is to do with the larger supercharged throttle body the rev limits under load are normal, courtenay have started putting a very low limit on to save the cars from damage before they see them. the battery light is 99% a buggered alternator the engine staying on is the relays in the boot which are goosed.

Is that down to your trapped wire? Thank feck it didn't toast the ECU as well. :o

Good idea on their part to stick a low rev-limit on this remote remapping. I wouldn't mind something similar on 1st and 2nd on my car anyway.

Same with me, though to be fair my car is perfectly 'safe' as is.
