TVS2300? :o :o

More capacity in the compressor than in the cylinders. Interesting. :o

Actually I was going to go for wet liners with a 'slightly' larger bore ;)

Well after ringing AutoVaux for a price for a replacement H8 x 60 bolt for the lower slider (old one had been rounded off previously, so had to undo it with a pair of pliers) I could not believe the price, £7.41 +VAT with a 2day delay for item to be stocked. I therefore popped onto Bell and Colville's parts catalogue... £0.74 + VAT. So rang and ordered two (just arrived in stock). Job done! Oh and if anyone want's anything from them, ring up as their on-line staff member is away and on-line orders will not be looked at until Sunday!

Just had an e-mail back from Courteneys. They said they dont have the stock yet but are hoping to provide the kits again very soon

Is that Caliper servicing kits, or have I missed something?

Secondary handbrake cable replaced.... Easy job, would be a doddle with a two or four post lift! Job time = 2hrs 10mins (including jacking and supporting rear end, removing and refitting undertrays and adjusting the tension on the hand brake once fitted). I am one happy bunny.... Knackered and got a touch of back ache....but altogether satisfied! Job tomorrow replace lower caliper slider bolt (subject to delivery from Bell and Colville) on offending caliper and if I can find some slightly thicker piece of teflon plastic to reduce the play on the caliper a touch more. Will create a mini how-to for anyone who wants it for changing the handbrake cable - took loads of pics just need to see how they come out. EDIT: I would also recommend replacing the handbrake cable to anyone - mine was in a truly shocking state!

Hey, Am hoping to close off my brake issue... Will know in the next 48 hours, but having replaced the handbrake cable I and stripped and regressed up all the moving parts on the offending caliper I took the car out and gave it some abuse. Heard the squeak early on, but after some abuse it seems to have settled down and the rear disc doesn't seem to be getting any hotter than the others now! Got 200miles of commuting to do in the next 48hrs so should have a better idea tomorrow, not gonna get excited this time as I know it is going to be premature! If so then caliper will have to be serviced or replaced.

My hopes had been dashed again, but having ordered a Brembo servicing kit from EliseParts I have just finished putting the new sliders and the rubber tube that goes through the lower aperture. Coincidentally the caliper feels much more solid on its mountings and the play on the lower slider has gone. The silicon grease that came with is good sh**..... So much so that I will definitely invest in some should it be needed elsewhere. Unfortunately the car is blocked in for the night... so testing of this 4th part of the saga will have to wait - I really hope that this does it as I really do not want to have to start tinkering with the piston (which coincidentally moves in and out smoothly and with ease).

Cheers for that... I pretty much did exactly that other than not refitting the white plastic sleeve. The caliper was sliding back and forth nicely with the silicon grease and to be perfectly honest there didn't really seem to be enough room for it. It is in my toolbag (I think) should I need to reuse it.

EDIT: Though I might have another go at refitting the plastic sleeve.... save having to replace the lot again. (Spotted DuncanVXR's post on page two and your response).

To be perfectly honest I am grateful that you replied, irrespective of timing. Found the peice of teflon and cleaned it up this morning whilst waiting for my lift to work and have turned it inside out, as the inner was scored to fcuk. So I think I might just have to have another climb under the car tonight and fit... or maybe wait to do it at the weekend.... I do have a college assignment that needs some meat adding to the bones.

200 miles without shouldn't kill it though (bearing in mind 140 of that is on the motorway with little to no use of the brake pedal).

Well there was absolutely no way the white sleeve was going to fit back in on the new lower caliper and rubber bushing (in the lower caliper slot). Try as I may it just kept pushing it out. Decision the EliseParts kit is not suitable to refit with the white sleeve as the tolerances are too tight to accept it. Gonna go take the car out for a blat on the way to the swimming baths for an evening swim.

Hmmmm..... Not sure - heard a little squeak or two leaving the swimming baths, but having warmed the discs and pads through to re bed that caliper and disc noises seem to have gone. One thing for sure... the brake pedal feels much more solid - almost as though I am properly pushing against a solid disc rather than a piece of hard rubber. Here's to hoping (again)

Sounds like you're at least getting somewhere with this. Let me know if I.can help, even if you just need an extra pair of hands or somewhere to work on it. Weekend use of the works car park shouldn't be an issue according to the crack.
