The two I have are certainly both ABC's. thumbsup

Both have totally different mounting brackets (and are different capacities) hence why I'm not going to start drilling holes directly into the floor of the car and using self tappers. The soon as one's use-by date elapses, I'll need to drill different holes to mount a replacement.

How long are there supposed use by dates?

The ones at work just get inspected an re certified. Im sure all they do is check the pin and that the pressure is within range and give it a shake to make sure the powders not set at the bottom

What about this http://www.elise-sho...94f9b11737f1cb5 as it seems loads better then a extinguisher and says it leaves no mess and last a lot longer then the powder extinguisher.

Now that looks like a good option. Doesn't look too big so easy to mount.
Couldn't find any videos of it in action but I think I need a Sparco Rib Protector

As above, good spot haggi. Very expensive compared to the 15 squid for a normal one. I would probably hessitate and check what was actually burning before wasting the $70 haha

The trick for using them is short bursts, that way you can get 10-15 bursts before they run out. Fiveoclock used one from machine mart i think. About 12 pounds. Im still undecided

Both of mine are some type of powder. Would really like a Halotron one but they cost a fecking fortune. I've been looking at those Sparco Fire eater things for a couple of years but information on them is very limited and haven't yet been able to find anything about how they perform. Would really like to see what the output of them looks like. No good if it discharges a dribble for 1 minute versus a flood of extinguishant for 12 seconds. The only other thing that puts me off them is the use of "salts" in it which I'm not sure will be too friendly towards the anodised finish on the tub and Nitrons (although will I care if it stops the thing going up in flames in the first place).

From screwfix but the exact same model is also sold in Halfords.
I picked one up but not fitted it yet. I know it will be yet another source of rattles too unless I put clips and tape all over the place then can't get the thing out of the bracket without a toolkit, a knife or a hernia inducing tug.

Two self tapping screws into the Ally ribbed bit in front of the passenger seat works fine for me, well cheap too only £5 inc P&P...

My mate has an Elise and his was tie wrapped to his passenger foot rest till it went off on the M40...

:yeahthat:

Tie wrap in passenger footwell. Been ok for about 2 years and 4 track days.
