It seems to be pretty good and has certainly saved the front end from a peppering. It's not bullet proof by any means but apart from one huge stone that hit me on the A1 (and went on to take a chunk out of the screen), nothing has done any damage. I got mine done by one of their agents in Daventry after I had the front clam repainted. Was hard work as I left the car in the garage for 3 weeks to make sure the paint was fully cured before going over early one morning to avoid any traffic. I did toy with the idea of trying to DIY it but having seen how complicated it was for the two fitters to fit it (the were stretching some sections and shrinking others), bloody glad I didn't try.

These are the guys that did mine.

Okay pics attached.

As has been said, try to touch it it as best as you can, and don't focus all your attention on that part when you look at it. ;)

As soon as paint over that white colour with a colour to match your car, you will not notice it.

*ps Your front grille looks like it could do with touching up too. Easy and cheap job that you can do yourself. thumbsup

a big thumbsup for ventureshield from me. The front of mine has remained unblemished for the last 4 years (i have just super-glued a fine piece of english oak to my index finger after such a statement). Tuts car has got a nice, let me say 'patener(sp?)' to it.

slightly off topic but i scratched the dash plate in the cabin and touched it up with an indelible silver felt tip pen. I then got my fingers nice and mucky and rubbed over the repair to make it look as grubby as the rest of it

If he waits too long he won't be able to delete that post either...it will be ingrained in the .org archives for him to cringe over ;)

No need for me to delete it. I looked hard for a car without 'bubbling' and kind of wanted to keep it that way. There seems to be lots of people with this problem, and i'd rather not have to deal with it. Hopefully i've got one of the 'good ones' but i'd be pissed if i did something that led to the affliction. As i said, never owned one of these plastic cars and being this is the most expensive car i've owned, and i'm only a week or so into ownership you could say i'm a little paranoid. I'm sure it will go in time - just bear with me right?! ;)

It's only natural to feel like that. Take all the (good) advice you can from other owners on here.

Once you've touched-up the stone chip, it will look fine. And if it happens again, then just do the same.

One of the great features of the VX is that (unlike the common cars that are made of metal  ) it won't rust, with stone-chips like that.

Look forward to getting it sorted, and don't let it put you off driving it. thumbsup

Drive it. BUT take extra care, especially when cornering. The Lotus chassis is finely balanced and the loss of paint WILL unsettle the car thumbsup

The Lotus chassis was test driven with no clams on it. A bit of flaking paint won't unsettle the car!!

Stone chips such as yours are common due to the nature of being low and getting hit by everything that the car in front throws up! Wait until there are loads of them and then repair chinky chinky

Try to leave a bigger gap than you usually would, when following other vehicles. Especially - don't get anywhere near gritters! ;)
