don't get anywhere near gritters!

You'll be terrified the first time you spot a gritter coming from the other direction! :)

It's even worse when you are passing one on your side of a dual carriageway with the lights off. Then as you are hurtling up towards them and the lights come on.... Fuuuuckkk is exactly what I shouted!

Worst ever was when one if those dangly triangles, that they hang on the end of extra long load lorry, came off and smashed straight into the front of the car on the M62. I juts heard a proper thud, then nothing. As I came off on the slip road to a stop I heard a thud thud. Got putti have a look and fortunately it had just chipped the paint and had scratched the 'v' and grill mesh. Was expecting some splintering, but so far so good.

Really? I've done probably 7-8 and haven't noticed any stone-chippery from them, bearing in mind you're only ever on track on your own. Maybe you'll pick them up on the sides but wouldn't it be tricky to get a nose-cone stonechip? Then again - probably easy to get a nose-cone conechip :)
