The ABS pump will weight in the region of 2Kg, plus a few lines less, and a few ml of fluid less... Might get near 3Kg saved.

JJJ had a thread a while back asking about removal, I stuck a load of info in there about getting a speed signal to the dash from an ABS sensor etc. I cant be fcuked to search to find it because its of no use to me :P

I wiil have a look, thanks!

If you remove your ABS try insuring you car with it as a declared mod, I wish you the very best of luck but AFAIK there is not a single company that will cover you.

i live in greece so no problemPosted Image. knowone knows/cares about that stuff... (they dont even know the car i think) so if someone is involved in an accident they will NEVER know if you have removed your ABS. (and maaaaany other things)

Its the removal of ABS from a car with ABS originally equipped that they baulk at.

I tried as many brokers and direct companies as I could find numbers for and they all said no can do.

CCI said they would cover for track but not road cover.

Thats good info to know from a legal/declared point of view for a road use car thumbsup

We now do a kit for removing ABS and also removing the servo. Obviously it's a track use only mod but it did find me about 1.5 secs a lap. We have a set of nice swaged braided lines with banjo's onto the master cylinder and the right fittings to bolt straight to the cars original hard lines. Then we have an adapter plate and a new plunger to fix the master cylinder direct to the pedal box without the servo for a nice solid pedal with lots of feel.

Yes, why would i want the servo? Besides, trying to generate sufficient vacuum on a turbo car with short braking distances is somewhat challenging.

Servos are only needed if you physically dont have the strength to press the brake pedal with enough force to activate the brakes

Yep indeed, I just have no idea if this is driveable with high power and slicks I am used to a friend's S2 Rover elise, and it is easily manageable but with twice the power, a bit more weight and slicks, have no idea

This sounds like just what I could do with. Since fitting 4x 4 pot calipers I no longer shred pads and boil fluid but downside is a soft pedal. I considered a larger master cylinder to push more fluid while keeping the servo, but might try deleting the servo first.
Chris, would you sell the adapter and plunger without the pipework? I've fitted a switchable hydraulic ABS bypass so my plumbing
is different so standard.
Do you use the standard 23mm master cylinder and with which calipers?

Has anyone had his ABS system removed? Is it really that nessesary? we could save a lot of weight by removing it plus better brake responce. I know that its a heavy job to do it...

It is a simple job you need only a pair of Tee e some plumbing, abs ECU don't need to be removed(for tacho use),only the pump actuator, i've put also an AP proportioning valve(advised) for adjust the rear brake, hydraulic fittings are M10x1 and M12x1 very simple to do with copper line bended in place.
Brake feeling is much better without the ABS hydraulics in place....!
