You can drive the VX very 'enthusiastically' and still see 26mpg try that in other cars with the same performance and you'll be lucky to see just over 1/2 that! :)

evo's scoobys puntos vxr8s other fast cars etc 15-20mpg- people selling up but still want the power could potentially be buying vxturbos.

WTF? Interesting inclusion in that list.

I got confused after seeing that as well. The flagship punto is a 1.4 turbo which easily does over 40 mpg.

Got mine for £7k - 53 reg HPI clear with 49k miles on clock - think it was a bargain! Oh, and the worst average I've had on a tank so far is 35mpg, best 39mpg with varied driving. If you thrash it all the time obviously it's going to be less but I think the combined official figure of 33 is fair in this case. Nick

In all seriousness, £6.5k will get you an absolute shed.

Either something that has been accident repaired (and not well) or in poor mechanical condition.

Will end up costing you a lot more in long run than buying a decent car.

not strictly tru. but in most cases yes.. actually to be fair 99.9999%

coming from newcastle im not surprised

ill translate.
loadsa companys say you get 80mpg or watever in their cars but you never do (possible to get 80mpg driving like a granny). so if they say 80mpg expect 60mpg and so on.
but vaux say you get 33mpg in the vx. and it easily gets that and more.

Yep that is a better way to explain it, damn my extra-long and convaluted writing style.

However I am only an honorary Geordie (well to some anyway), was born'n'bred in Yorkshire, but have spent the last decade in the Toon (in one way or another). Randomly I am currently sat on a Train to get back up to make sure my Missus is okay... Not been a good day for her/us again. :( - typically the VX is out of order and I had originally planned on working on it tonight, but a phone call this morning has put that on the back burner for now.

In all seriousness I've found one for you OP http://www.autotrade...f62py?logcode=p Bar some tomfoolery with the speedo thats pretty well documented on this site the previous owner was a member, the car looks good and the dealer would/should bite your hand off as they have had it in for an age.

Its a shame - but I dont like the colour, I suspect thats the feeling of a lot of potential buyers which is why its still for sale.

I've got one to sell that is probably worth £6.5k but I keep wanting to keep it as it feels to cheap for a vx.
