From my point of view, any project that aims to achieve something new and different is awesome!
I'm sure that it's going to be a really interesting build to follow and, once successfuly implemented, it's going to give people another option. thumbsup
It's also going to be interesting to see how much a similar build will cost in the future once all the 'engineering challenges' have been ironed out!

Now, getting back to that Audi V8 you mentioned.... That's an idea I really like the sound of....

Best of luck and I'm looking forward to seeing the progress!

If the 5 pot tt rs engine was more available then would have looked at that but more weight does go against the vx setup :closedeyes:and would hold an even greater cost for hardware :(

Sounds interesting. Please take lots of pics and post them up on Picassa or something :) BTW, remapping direct injection cars is tricky as the number of dimensions for the tables increases. I guess you already have a mapper to do this though? Good luck Dunc - you are cetainly intrepid !

Given how a fast an ed30 (1400kg) with circa 280hp got to 160mph when mr pops on here has one, i an only assume it will make for an incredibly rapid machine.

Ive also ran this engine in 360 bhp guise in the leon and it is night and day with any vaux 2.0T. Really fast spool up considering the power on tap. Looking forward to regular updates.

Nev try my best on the pics but will be nothing to comapre to your mighty blog ;) Imnotworthy

Yes ECU work ready to go with stage 2 base map all taken care off - would not even want to start to try and work out the direct fuel injection stuff :S going to be enough fun sorting the wiring out as it is to retain full vx layout

Have to say even though I know its a lot of work REALLY looking forward to it and once a few more bits are gathered will rip the old n/a lump out, clam off etc and hopefully by the end of the weekend have a cheeky pic of the vag lump dangling in place from the hoist :)

Be interesting to what it sounds like with a shorter catless fat exhaust and nice intake

Have the performance box so as soon as its finished will get some stats thumbsup

you need to come out in my 2.0T vaux then!

Duncan - let me know if you want adaptor plugs for your loom. I can get all the bits so you don't need to splice into the car loom at all.

Chris yours is no normal 2.0T :P must take me out sometime ;) Thanks for the offer on the plugs - have no real urge to make anything thats not already avaiable and prefer the clean adaptor option over spliced wires. Will give you a shout once it gets to that stage but atm hope to start the initial work some point in November as working on cars in the winter is my fave thing :o :P

I am also watching this thread with interest, but also with a hope for the future as I have been hugely interested in the VAG enhine'd Lizzies after having a play with my Mums A3 1.8TFSI.

I had the engine purchased and as of last night and this morning Have a 6 speed box with shafts, selector, mounts and oe clutch but am going to recommend converting to solid item ;) I also as of 07:13 this morning have had confirmation the ECU work completed (to run standalone from canbus setup) and flashed with software - will need to do the hardware upgrades 1st but will be off to the RR to see if any fine tweeks are required. Plan is while I have the trailer (off to Donny on Sat 3rd) to transport the donor ikle n/a :D and take to the unit and will them be in a position to plan a weekend to get the old bits out and start to position the new engine / box in - hope in the 1st weekend to have the engine on draft mounts DG Although after mapping my octavia at the weekend the clutch is now slipping......boooooo - hate fixing my own cars lol It will be really interesting next summer how this project comes to a close and the other VXT which is retaining the LET lump but custom inlet / exhaust manifold / bigger turbo and standalone ;) - this project is more about dropping the CR*P stock management and have some nice smooth power and loose the on/off boost that anyone who drives a stg4 will know what I mean Happy to provide plug and play kit for vxt in the future regardless of spec - also going to run a stock setup and play around with a few things Going to be a busy year but all exciting stuff

You don't have a source for an uprated TFSI fuel pump setup, by any chance, do you? :ninja:
