I will get a few decent pics uploaded asap but got time today to remove dsg box, fit the 6 speed manual and bit of time alinging the new setup. Its tight front to back but side to side a chunk shorter so been playing around with weight verses shaft length and looking good so far. Had to remove the air con mind to fit lol. Should have draft top mounts tomorrow after some more fine tuning of position DG

The mounting system looks very different to the vauxhall engines - interested to see the mounts. (still picturing a diesel there though!)

Spent a few hrs today playing with fi nal position and almost happy. Was originally looking at using the vag mounts and fabricate something to join the chassis. Seems the oe mounts work a treat with custom bracket and upgrade to comp vibratec mounts Watch this space for detais and more pics DG Derv is wrong lol but happy to give you 80mpg and vag performance diesel lump

It's hard updating from the phone, so sorry for the strangish replies :) The vag oe mounts do me no favours but using the vaux top mounts work quite well and as per my previous update there are 2 beefed up versions which should deal with the top side. Bottom rear looks easy enough with the option again to retain the vaux pickup and us another uprated mount. Not got round the the front bottom as I had to remove initially to allow clearence of the oe plastic intake pipe for the TB Turbo cleares the rear chassis (as in the oil return metal pipe) by a good 10mm so happy with that but may take a nik out of the chassis section just for extra clearance but hope the engine could not move this much - only 1 way to confirm :) Decided to go for a more even weight distrubution of the engine / box over a more even driveshaft length - if it was FWD I would be more worried. Shafts (approx, final thou mill measurments after mounting engine complete) were pax side shaft - 18inch and drivers 31inch the vag hybrid ones currently are 14.5inch and 29inch long and the angle of the shafts is sub 10deg at largest angel so again thats makes me happy. Final play to keep the shafts as happy as possible again after mounts completed I was tempted for about 10min to keep the DSG but man its heavy over the 6 speed manual vag box and the wiring issues not fully cracked to us in non canbus vagness setup I have got the engine siting nice and low - well as low as it can before sitting on the tray :D and as far forward and looking forward to some non sub 4 deg working temps next weekend As for the mounts in draft will be steel beefed up versions and look to machine an alloy version once happy DG

Ordering some steel today to make the mounts as I am just about there with my drawings and vibra technics have a nice solution for me using the oe style top mounts and gearbox one which should be confirmed and ordered this week. Tfsi item only has 3 mounts as standard and having a good chat with Phil yesterday confirms this setup will be better than 4 so not even worrying about the pain involved in trying to fab the front box mount. Was asked about the TT RS lump fitting into the vx late last night and think it would but those engines are rare to find :( would sound funky though :D Looking forward to the weekend already DG

   That would go like stink in anything Matt but i suspect you have spent to much money on the current setup yo have. Or is this the only thing that will refind your love of vx's

Dg you could set up business doing these conversions at the minute

I do think a lightweight small v8 with a decent power output would make the vx a bit of a supercar (noise content and looks :D) but for power the 2.0 tfsi can make the same with ease and lighter and less work to fit One thing at a time boys, got a back log building and still need to do my own track beastie and Sarah's cambelt service on the Meriva lol. Let alone the slipping clutch on the skoda of doom which I am ingnoring and towing is not making it better :S DG
