Could have polished the airbox  :P Really impressed with this but whats the cost if someone just wants the airbox and the price for the airbox bits not assembled?

Same for me dunc really, could do with you taking a look at what I already have and hopefully suggesting just the air box would see decent drivability gains. :)

Really am impressed with those gains Duncan, well done :) Have these only been tried on stage 4s? On the phone ATM and can't be arsed going back through the posts  if so be interesting to see the gains on a stage 1 or 2 :)

That would be an update from me lol Stage 2 will make more power but I like to use data and not make a number up. Expect about 10bhp DG

Hopefully examining my pipe work I would see nice drivability gain with just the airbox dunc... Will pop round when you have a spare 5 mins and see what you think?

I'm intrigued by this, would love to see more data. Have you measured the pressure drop across the stock filter, then again across the new setup? Trying to think if its something I've ever looked at, I certainly have on my own car but that's on a bespoke intake system. If you want to run a test @ TDI on a Europa then let me know.

The car has gained 18bhp/20ft lb @ 5250rpm :)

It holds more power and torque from 4300rpm to limiter

That's more like the type of increase I'd expect to see from this modification.

As per quite a few OEM air boxs* the VXT one has quite a few shaped area which I can only assume are to accomodate fitting in a different car as it was just pulled out of the parts bin. These mean that the flow distribution through the airfliter is not very uniform and is just made worse when you then try to pull 50% more air through it.

*the NA ones doesn't and if you remove the NVH cones gives pretty even flow distibution judging by dirt loading.

DG when I win the lottery you can fit the intake kit, pro alloy charge cooler, AET turbo, uprated injectors and get it mapped...... Now just need the 4grand to pay for it all boo hiss. Great results by the way. Nice work.

Great results yet again for Duncan and Dave and all the hard work they put into it.
Mr Simba how is the turbo clatter now as far as I am concern that is the real goal of this kit not the power as i have said before it is about 90% cure in my car now.

I did not have the external recirc valve that I think DG was using for that, TBH my 'chatter' was never really that bad anyway, but the engine breathes so much better over 4.5k it's definatly smoother to the limiter now :)

MrSimba has 50% of the full recirc upgrade using the forge uprated turbo recirc. Have the other bit done will further improve things but Simon's core for the CC is taking up the space it would normally go so would have to mod the CC core to have a T for the recirc but as Simon is happy with his atm no point giving me extra pain and suffering :D DG

Good results Dunc :)

Widening the thottlebody and size and shape CC inlet/outlet pipes will also yield more power for anyone who's interested as these are the next smallest restrictions (other than the inlet plenum of course). The OEM TB is just 56mm in I/D, with the added negative effects of being directly after the 90 degree bend of the tophat and having a butterfly flap in it which causes turbulence as well as rob some volume out of the total internal volume.

I can supply enlarged (56mm to 62mm) swap in/out throttlebodies if anyone wants one: https://sites.google...parts-suppliers .I am also in the middle of R&D'ing a 70mm TB with my engineer atm (only worth it for approx 350+ bhp cars).

Thanks Nev, worth keeping in mind a larger tb will possibly not control the power as well (part throttle). This is on the list of things to test with the standalone but part throttle response is key imho Guess I cant fully comment on how the different size tb setup will react ref WOT and peak power vs part throttle responsxe but thats why thety are getting tested ;) And of course the inlet will be side feed on the test mule and will loose that 90 :) I need to post a proper for sale thread but the intake kit costs are as follows £800 full kit inc both uprated recircs £530 full intake kit excluding recic setup (box and intake pipe) All with required silicon, clips etc etc I have the price for the airbox alone and if you want to build the box yourself in the car and will post on the full for sale thread when I have time - hopefully today but at the latest tomorrow morning ;) DG

Is there any merit in gatting a remap after installation (ie. would this allow the setup to be optimised) - just planning ahead!
