not imho they cant
the fact the dyno readout looks like a SC map says it all
I did say I didn't know about Liam specifically.
I just know that in early CMS days when the company belonged to Chris Courtenay, I went out in his Cavalier 4WD (this was 1989 I think) which had been mapped on road (before they had a RR) and it was awesome. I remember it hitting the rev limiter in 5th, the first time I had ever seen a car hit the rev imiter in top gear and we were doing 150mph.

A RR map and road finetuning
That's definitely the ideal. That's the way my last two Audi's have been mapped.

That's how mine was done too.
Although I didn't notice squat difference until 100 miles later, which opens up another can of worms I guess

RR's do have a place within tuning, of that there is no doubt.
Also the validity and importance of further tuning from the RR session is of vital importance.
That is tuning the vehicle whilst driving it on the road.
To not do this is to miss a trick..........which seems quite daft after all the effort of getting thus far.
And one that many people simply do not bother with. I think that this is due to a lack of knowledge and being lead by the many. When in reality it is the few who go on to produce the outstanding results.
I have built many engines during my 40+ years of direct involvement with motor sport, both motorcycle and car.
I have worked on a one to one basis with John Sleath........... of www.john-sleath.com
Creator of............
The first street legal car to run 180mph on pump gas The first street legal car to break into the 7 second bracket in full street legal trim,(treads and pump gas) And many, many more firsts.
Less than a year ago we worked on a very special sbc 6300cc motor which I had built. We spent many hour refining the engine and RR tuning. The engine was a "corker". I was very pleased as was John with the result.
However, even though John is also a sbc specialist of many years standing.
We gained so much more from the drivers situation by spending some more hours of "real-world" on street tuning to back up the RR work.
So. If you also find yourself with a "corker" of a RR tuned motor. I will say........then spend a bit more time with a competent tuner on the road. You may just surprise yourself with what you can achieve.
"SO".
