Turbos have vertical bolts on both brackets. N/A's have vertical bolts on the Passenger side and then horizontal on the Drivers side.

If memory serves the Near Side ones are horizontal into the block, the offside are vertical into the gearbox. Thats on an N/A anyway.

Wrong way around.

How tight did you do the nut up, the mounts only need about 45nm I think. Do it up too tight, possibly caused it to rip out.

Yup, the right mount is incorrect. The front and rear mounts do have adjustability and should be slackened off when doing side mounts. The front and rear brackets are slotted and the hole in the middle of the mount is bigger than the bolt that goes through it. They rely on a pinch up to keep them in place.

Yes that does look like it could have been the case, has anyone else seen anything like this before?

Update, In fact yes this is an omega mount tooo large is the problem, have left the engine overnight to settle on new mounts with front and rear not attached, reattached and all line up very nicely NO 10mm gap on left engine mount anymore..!! Test drive will tell???

Fitted new Vibra-Technics mounts (left & right) today, and pleased to say I experienced none of the troublesome bolt removal I've read so much about on here, so pretty pleased. I chose the fast road version, and don't seem to be getting any more NVH than with the standard offering. VT were helpful when I contacted them to ask about the structure of the mount, as I could deflect the units rubber and see the edge of the rubber pull away from the cup that it 'appeared' to be moulded into. I wasn't sure this was ok, so contacted them. they replied this morning, yes, this morning (sunday, I sent the email last night) explaining that that part of the rubber wasn't bonded to the cup and all was normal. They included a cutaway drawing to explain the structure, from which you can see that unlike the std Vauxhall mount which can completely tear and come apart, this one has a mechanical failsafe, so the worse you could expect with a failure is a clanky mount. All in all I thought is was a pretty easy job. Also fitted at pair of elise-shop anti rattle door pins. found the top mount of the intercooler floating about in the wing top, so thats another rattle sorted, drivers door window mechanism loose, now sorted etc, etc. Still reckon there's a few things floating more than they ought in the back, mebbe exhaust system touching occasionally, but getting there with the job of quietening things down. Enjoying the drive, looking forward to some warmer weather. Cam belt kit & service next.

Apologies for opening a topic again but Im having the same problem

See pic its an Autovaux aftermarket mounting which i know some use but its too small the difference being around 10mm

do i have a faulty mounting supplied ??

I have checked the original and its a vx standard one, also tried loosening the front and rear mountings too but it wont settle down unless one mounting is totally removed.

All help appreciated John

I've used autovaux mounts for 5/6 years never had a problem. Did you support the engine when the old one was removed?

Looks like you have tightend the bolts on the mount bracket right up. I normally slacken the bolts off and tighten each but at a time and it should then sit flush. When you put a nut on the engine mount then that should pull together nicely.

Ask Wolfstone about Engine mounts, ken helps everyone else with theirs apart from turning up to NPC spannering days when we change mounts, and he has been ousted as NPC chairman as a result!! #kensgonerogue.......... 😂
