I have a couple of spare oem mounts we can use to compare. Not around this weekend but should be the following weekend.

Hi Ken, very kind offer.

Had a good investigation with AutoVaux today and they have ordered in an OEM mounting to compare with and have said that the aftermarket ones they have in stock are a good 6mm shorter by there measurements. Thats not good news for people changing them in future.

They have offered to supply the OEM one at a reduced price to sort me out but where does that leave future mounting swaps.

The original mount measures 70mm mounting surface to mounting surface and the new 64mm, the only way around it would be to machine the gearbox mounting brackets down ??

AutoVaux have said that they will speak to the supplier and note concerns though.

Looks like you have tightend the bolts on the mount bracket right up. I normally slacken the bolts off and tighten each but at a time and it should then sit flush. When you put a nut on the engine mount then that should pull together nicely.

I tightened a bit at a time, problem is if i tighten up now then the mounting will be under tension rather than compression and will fail early in my opinion.

It is a passenger mounting BTW.

Strange one, but if you change the LH&RH ones at the same time, would that not cure the issue?

But wouldn't that make the engine even lower in the bay and make the front and rear mountings be under tension ?

It wouldn't be hard to make a 6mm spacer surely, to sit under the new shorter engine mounts?

Not hard at all, but you'd hope that a patten part would be the right size

At the moment both front and rear mountings are fully slack, pinch bolts and mounting bolts. And the nut won't quite run down the thread enough for a spacer to be effective. Only way on my opinion is to machine the 6mm from the gearbox bracket which I will remove tomorrow and see 8f it's feasible.

So just to give you an update on this, AutoVaux (who have been fantastic by the way) have supplied me a genuine mounting to resolve my issue.

In the swap over they have sent me the new one and I have the pattern part too (see pic), as can bee seen the difference is massive.

They also told me they are doing work to get a new supplier and talking to the existing one, and I am told they are actively working to resolve the issue.

Thank you all for your input.

John

They must have changed suppliers, or the supplier has just decided to change the mount, as the ones I had from them was the larger one, with the slits in the rubber.

Is the small one stiffer/stronger?

Good option to lower my engine a bit, or fit it with a spacer washer...

I would imagine its stiffer as its solid rubber and not partly oil filled.

If you lower it the front and rear mountings will no longer fit unless its a custom engine swap that is !!

I could need the right side one. Whats the part number for this? Does it fit except for the 6mm height difference? How much did you pay for this?
