Hi all,i want to upgrade my VX220 springs with the Eibach prokit,now i checked the springs mounted on the car and noticed that are marked Eibach!!! The standards springs are Eibach?? Anyone tried the lowered eibach prokit springs?? Thanks all!!!

Yes, standard springs are Eibach, and standard dampers are Bilstein I believe. They are very good, and perfectly suited to the car on the road. I wouldn't change the suspension at all unless doing a lot of track work, in which case I'd go for Nitrons or Ohlins. Some people like the Spax kit, apparently Scared Stiff aren't convinced by it. I found the ride quite hard in rubber's car, and I think it would cause me a problem on a lot of the bumpier roads near me. Again, it depends whether you're tracking it. I think if you lower it for the sake of looks, you'll ruin the handling, and the ride.

Eibach lowered pro kit springs are tested with the original damper and are therefore perfectly suited for them. They are not purely suited for track work, they will provide less wallow and pitching with a slightly harder ride. I would recommend them to anyone. As for Spax......I wouldn't touch them with a barge poll. cheers

The Eibach kit is sold in Europe, however as it was designed by Lotus as an accessory for the 2.2 (though not taken up by Vauxhall) Eibach Uk are not allowed to sell this kit in the UK. Likewise they cannot sell the standard VX's springs to anyone other than Lotus. This is a pity as Goofballs said they do work well as Lotus designed them around the standard Bilstien damper. I have driven a few cars with them fitted, ( having obtained them from a European Eibach dealer) whilst they do not offer the absolute contol etc of say the Nitron set up I have found that the roll is reduced and the car feels more planted whilst not being "crashy" and hard.

I have them and I think the are good. The car looks better and it does not feel any harder than normal, so it is not a trackday thing!!

One quick question on suspension. I'm looking at getting a new brand of suspension tested on my VXT, used abroad a lot and are comparably priced to Nitrons but with a slightly softer ride. I'll post more details when I can but what I need to know is if the Elise suspension is the same as the VX's. If so then we're in business right away (spring rates and differences aside please, I only need to know if the actual shock unit is the same in fitting and size).

I have just ordered a set from the www.eibachshop.com website and they do free delivery to the UK. cheers No, honestly, the spax suspension is hard and does not have the damping capabilities of the standard unit, don't confuse no roll and stability, with more grip. As someone said earlier, scaredstiff do not rate them (and their reputation for car setup on this forum is up there with the Gods), my specialist racing technologies do not rate them (they setup, amongst other things, group c le mans cars). A better, and much cheaper option, would be to fit a set of eibach springs to a standard damper. If I remember in the article, the SPAX suspension on the highly tuned VXs did not get close to the standard VXT times (whose suspension is much too soft for the circuit). A good suspension upgrade on a car is normally good for 2-3 secs.

Understood but they do come with a 24 month warranty and in my case i bought them when they were on offer at Regal so figured that at £399 it was worth the chance with such a cost benefit over the Nitrons.

Would i pay £599 for them? well
