Aren't these the same part on both sides, in which case wouldn't it be more acceptable if you replaced both with the slightly larger part?

that is possible, but you would need to consider;

loosening the front and rear mounts to allow the engine to sit at it's new position, before tightening them back up.

the engine/box weight being slightly higher up, probably not the end of the world, but you never know.

the exhaust moving slightly to suit the new position of the engine/box.

any wiring or pipes would need to be checked for their slightly different new position, unlikely to be a concern, but best be safe.

The omega ones seem to come in 2 different lengths. Will measure mine when they come against the standard.

In the meantime I'm proud of this.....

Are the aftermarket Omega parts available from a Tier 1 manufacturer or someone spurious and aftermarket only?

I've had an unbelievable morning with the nice chaps at Bristol Street Vauxhall in Newcastle. Despite only owning the car for 15 months it didn't take much searching on .org to be confident that the grinding noise from the left side of the engine bay under hard acceleration was a shot mount. As I have neither the skills or tools to tackle such a job I rang around for prices and Vauxhall seemed reasonable at £111 passenger and £125 drivers side fitted, considering that the mounts cost £65 each online. Gavin who I bought the car from said the driver side mount had been replaced recently and should be fine. Vauxhall insisted on a vehicle health check and advised that if a visual inspection could not identify the problem £65 would be incurred for a diagnostic. Given that this £65 would be a likely cost I decided to take the risk that my diagnosis was correct and booked the car in for the engine mount replacement. When I arrived Chris on the service desk seemed bemused by my request to have an engine mount changed, for which I would pay their quoted fee. Amazing I know, who'd have thought you could pay a garage to fix your car eh?? He said they may not have the part in stock, a diagnostic would be charged on a time/cost basis and would not be fixed at £65 and the cost of the work could be much more as he didn't even know how much a mount would cost. I authorised a road test and visual inspection only and was told that I would be contacted if an intrusive diagnostic would be required. A phone call came advising me that, to my amazement, the passenger side mount was shot! He also advised that the gearbox mount is on its way out. The cost for this work... £602. The mounts themselves from Vauxhall were quoted as over £200, I forget the exact amount, something around the £215 mark. Although this did include 'extra parts required' for the work (nuts to secure the mounts). A quick call to Courtenay Sport and I have panic bought their last two side mounts in stock for £61.25 each + P&P. I've spoken to Formula 1 in Newcastle who said they would fit the side mount at an estimated 1-1.5 hours labour. I'm toying with the idea of changing all 4 in one go. I've had some bad customer service in my time from car dealerships, but this is right up there!

I tried going into Vauxhall two weeks ago thinking I might get a small favour from them and it would only take about 12 seconds of their time. Nope, quoted £44.50. That's what happens when you take a Lotus to a Vauxhall dealer ;)

I'd read that Bristol Street have a good VX specialist on several forums, had no problems with servicing last year. Their customer service is a huge let down. Any tips on where I should be looking? JPS in Blaydon and SPS in Consett seem to be mentioned frequently...

I found them to be great, but had to deal with Darren - as he knew his way round a VX. The others didn't have a clue...

I just went for the OE mounts from Courtenay Sport, I am also considering the poly inserts for the front and rear mounts as they claim to prolong the life of the side mounts. As I said I got the last two OE mounts in stock, not sure if they'll get any more in. By the look of this thread they're becoming like hens teeth!
